Now I think of it, when I was at that CSU, they never asked what name I preferred. They just called me by my legal name at the time. I told everyone "Please, for the love of God, don't call me that. My name is Amadeus, not _____. Seriously. It's like going up to Ron Weasley and muttering 'Voldemort!' I will cringe and cry." The other patients were cool and called me by my chosen name. The doctors, techs, and nurses, on the other hand, were complete sh*t bags about it. One tech, he had to have been born on 19 June, a summer's eve, he was such a douche. Made a lot of really sexist remarks to me. I wanted to punch him in the kidneys, I was so angry. There was also a day where some nursing school class was going to tour the facility, and for some bullsh*t reason the staff wanted us to wear name tags. I refused. They snapped at me and slapped it on my shirt, with the Name We Do Not Mention scrawled on it. I was livid and scratched it out as best I could with markers, crayons, whatever I could find. No one said anything, but I did get a nasty look from one tech. God knows, as depressed as I've been lately, there may be another trip to a mental hospital. If it happens, at least my name's legally changed now and I never have to hear the Name We Do Not Mention ever again.
Sorry. Went on a rant there. Had to get it out. Therapist says I bottle too much stuff.
