Hello everyone,

I've known Susan's Place for a while now, but have only now decided to sign up. It was time. :)

First of all, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with progesterone. I'd like to add it to my regimen. I'm currently two months into Estrace and Androcur (which is kind of a whole other issue) but I think progesterone may help.

Secondly, would anyone know where to get bras in a 30 band size? I know that 30 is a relatively small band size (in trans and cis women) however I can stick both of my fists between my skin and the bands of the 32s I have. As a Canadian we don't have Nordstrom (with the exception of Calgary) nor Dillard's.

Thanks,

Chloë

 Hi Chloë,

I'm not sure how much help i'll be since I haven't started anything yet, but I've been on the site for a while so maybe I can give some advice or something. From what I can tell is that a good number of people on here have used progesterone as an aid to help with developing better. Since progesterone is more of a menstrual hormone, I'll help you have better breast growth possibly and more feminized look to the body, such as better fat transfers.

Now I don't wanna be rude here, but it does sound like you are self dosing. There's nothing wrong with it, but you have to be careful in what you take and how much of it. This is why most people see a therapist who than recommends an endo doctor. They provide you with the most accurate levels needed. Make sure you know exactly what you are doing to your body.

Lastly, I'm super jealous of your size 30 band size, heck of a lot better than my size 40 band :'(. The best idea for that is to either look online and see if there's woman's stores nearby or you could always order stuff from online. The online stuff is harder to do because you have zero idea if it's gonna fit correctly and be right for you. It does save some embarrassment from going into a woman's store.

That's all I got. Hopefully someone else can give you some more help.

Love,
Marty (Sammi)

Ah okay, thanks! I looked on some other posts and it seemed to be recommended. So perhaps I'll ask for it to be added. However, some people mentioned facial masculisation as a result of progesterone, however I think that was mostly with Provera as opposed to Prometrium.

I'm not sure where you got the idea that I self medicate (perhaps the use of "I'll add"?), however I am being supervised and prescribed by an endocrinologist as well as submitting to regular blood tests. But I appreciate the concern.

Also I go into stores such as Victoria's Secret all the time and love them, it's just that the tiniest is normally 32. Online may perhaps be an option.

I was on Prometrium for five years, but was only added to my daily routine after 1 year on estrace and spiro.
Since my GRS was completed last year, my new endo  took me off it. I'm not sure if it's because of my age or the results of my blood test. I dunno. I do know the progesterone did help in adding a bit more tissue to the breast area, but then again I've never measured my changes on hormones. I preferred to just let things happen, and any changes were welcomed. I put a lot of faith in my endo's over the years, who I hope have my interests in check.

Tyi Chloe, I live in Ottawa...and Nordstroms has their grand opening here next week

Ah well that clears it up lol. Yea it sounded to me like you were self medicating. Even Better.

In that case I'd talk with your doctor and I'm sure they wouldn't have a problem letting you have it. Since you are only like 2-3 months Idk if your doctor will prescribe it yet. I've seen with some people that they get different stuff at different times depending to how well the body is reacting to the meds. So Who knows? Maybe it's part of the game plan, but not yet. You'll find out with the next appointment probably.

Progesterone? YES, YES, YES!!! It has made a world of difference in my transition and my Endo swears by it. I do an injection every other week and the effects of it are very plain to see and wonderful. It is like my "girls" found an all you can eat buffet!!  :)

Oh okay, that's awesome! I'll definitely talk to my endo about it next time.

And I flip back and forth between Québec City and Toronto, but Ottawa's in-between, so I could probably see the new store  :)

Nice. Nordstroms replaced the Sears near Rideau Street

Ahh so nice to meet some of my Canadian sisters. I am based in Toronto Chloe :)
You can always find a GP/Family Dr that can prescribe hormones.

I did it by mutual consent and so far so good. If you need some help, I have a contact person you can reach out to.
Just PM me.

xoxo

P.S. Muffin, I am jealous it's not going to be until next year I think before we open Nordstrom.
Nothing ventured nothing gained

Oh that's cool  :D

I currently have an endocrinologist in Québec City, however if he leaves or something I'll definitely keep that in mind.

Yeah, us Torontonians have to wait until 2016, however they're planning 3 (Yorkdale, Eaton, and Sherway Gardens) which is fun :)

Also, I found this to be interesting. It comes in the leaflet for Prometrium:

"The estrogen plus progestin arm of the WHI trial indicated
increased risk of myocardial infarction (heart attack),
stroke, invasive breast cancer, pulmonary emboli (blood
clots in the lungs) and deep vein thrombosis (blood clots in
the large veins) in postmenopausal women receiving
treatment with conjugated equine estrogens (an estrogen
medication) and medroxyprogesterone acetate (a
progestin medication)."

If I'm not mistaken, conjugated equine estrogens and medroxyprogesterone acetate are respectively Premarin and Provera, neither of which have a good track record; so is this warning even relative considering neither Estrace or Prometrium are these substances?

I am a 41 band so I am jealous :) . On-line is your best bet.

I have been taking Prometrium for a while, perhaps a year. It helps with a little added breast size. Most importantly I have read on here it helps convert E to a very portent form. It also limits the number of e receptors.

My PA-C said it will put my breasts over the top (increase them a little so they are noticeable) but nothing else ( I am an a cup). I do know the pill form that I am on is in your system for a short period of time. I will inquire about IM on March 6, my next appointment.

Sorry, there's two things I don't understand. Is a higher number of estrogen receptors bad? And what is IM?
