So I have my appointment with my doc to start e tomorrow. First the bad news. I lost my job last Thursday. I know that the clinic will do a sliding scale for my visits, that's the good news, but I wonder what the cost for patches is going to be. I really don't want to put this off. I'm already pushing the high side of 40's.
So my question is... Does anyone pay full price out of pocket and could you give a rough estimate as to cost?
Thanks in advance. Hugs
Ella

So. Not that anyone cares, but i had my appointment today.  Blood pressure was to high for estrogen scip. He did start me on spiro so that's a good thing. Hopefully I can get my bp down by next month. I think some small changes and the spiro will make it happen. We'll see

Don't be silly, of course we care! BP's a b*tch, but at least she's spiro's b*tch. I actually had to drop (as per my PCP) my previous BP med because it and the spiro dropped me too low. I bet you'll be fine!
April 22, 2015, the day of my first face to face pass in gender neutral clothes and no makeup. It may be months to the next one, but I'm good with that!

Well, that stinks.  Hopefully spiro will do the trick and bring your bp down so you can get some estrogen soon.

Sorry, but can' help with prices.  Hope you can find a new job soon.

Thank you both for the responses. That does help cheer me up a little. I been reading up in spiro and its use to lower BP. My doc told me to try and monitor it for the next month and if it's looking good he will start me on patches. God I hope so.
I've been trying to quit smoking by using an electric cigarette and I've noticed that my BP seems higher from that then normal cigarettes. Maybe a more efficient delivery system. So I guess I'm going to have to lower my nicotine levels quickly so I can keep the BP down.
Thanks again for the replies. I was starting to wonder if this was a clique thing and I just wasn't one of the popular girls. Lol.

Sweety, let me clue you in, at least to me. I don't read everything, I can't. I don't respond just to say, "me too"! And I have good days and bad days. On a bad day (many lately) I can't read good threads 'cause I get jealous and I can't read bad threads 'cause they tear my heart out. We all do as much and we can, but things can be tough. This is peer support, even from those of us who do professional support in our day jobs. I'm sorry you were feeling ignored. I think we all have at times here. Susan probably even has. Nobody gets ignored forever.

Good luck with your blood pressure and, yes, nicotine can push it up.

Most docs won't give HRT to a smoker.   You will likely need to quit ASAP.   OK, I know, quitting smoking is so easy that I've done it dozens of times.

Gum- fail
Patch- fail
Ecig- fail
Taper off until one a day and quit- fail

Cold turkey for the win!   I also did a few other things- I stopped doing the things that made me smoke out of habit.   I stopped drinking, stopped eating crap, walked every day and played a lot of guitar.  When I really thought I needed one, I'd take a hot shower instead.  Needless to say, I was wet a lot the first month.  I rewarded myself after dinner each day with hot tea and a small sugar-free dessert, like pudding or a cookie.  I avoided gaining weight by doing this; in fact I blew my doctor's mind by actually losing weight in the process of quitting smoking.

Anyway, it's best to quit closer to now than later, and I love smelling like perfume instead of an ashtray.

Hugs,
Jill

I asked my pharmacist what the difference in price was for patches vs tablets.she said patches were more cost effective. My endo wants me on patches as they keep the dosage more constant.
Haven't finished the tabs so don't know difference in price yet.

Oh yeah, I can quit at any time. I've done it hundreds of tiles. Lol
The best success that I had at quitting was hypnosis. Multiple sessions. I think the cost of it was what really drove me to succeed. It worked for about 5 years and then I had a fishing contest that I tried to regularly attend because it was the only time I would see some old friends. Everyone smokes so I got some cigars to keep me busy.
Unfortunately the cigars started to become a habit and then I figured I might as well smoke cigarettes because they were cheeper.
I will quit one way or another and I think the thought of not being able to start e until then is going to be a huge motivational factor.

I'm sorry if I got a bit snippy with my " nobody cares". I like attention and I can be a bi*** and passive aggressive.
But thank you all for the feedback. It does help me. I suppose I've lurked too long and feel like I know some of you.
Oh god, I'm like one of those stalker fans. Lol
Well it's time to get busy with the day.
Ciao. Ella
