im not really sure what to do...everyone at school found out that im transgender. one of my close friends slipped while i was gone... and he just called me up and told me about it. it actually never really happened before so i dont really know what to do. ill be heading to class on monday, but im not really sure how to approach it. i really wasnt planning on them finding out like this. anybody deal with this before? suggestions appreciated!

Hi Raven,

That's a hard one Raven.  At this stage (as you haven't gone back yet) you can think about showing them that you are cool about it, that it's not a big issue, hold your head up high and show you're still the same person as you were last week. 

I think everyone is going to be fine with you.  There may be questions asked but it's up to you how much you want them to know, or maybe tell only the very close personal friends you can trust.

well their will always be asswholes with low-self esteem who have nothing else better to do because their life is boring but to mock you.

This is life and life brings down MANY challenges- you can get through this if you stay strong. Some ppl will observe you a lot. Make no note of it just act normal and as you really are.- if they ask q's answer confidently without mumbling or anything- but give stupid answers if anyone asks obnixous q's and walk away & avoid them.- last thing you need is negativity.  Make sure you have real friends not fake ones. Be strong- pretty soon ppl won't care much because it doesn't affect them.- soon they will see you without thinking "OMG"- they'll just behave like they would to anyone else.

Ii was different when I was at school and in those days (1970's) it wasn't widely known about transgendered issue's like it is today. I was called 'girly' and beaten up qyite badly on a regular basis. They knew I was really feminine but didn't know why and it confused people....

I think you will be OK.....

I think you have only one choice:  Hold your head up high and go on about your life.  You won't escape jerks at any school, at any job,  in any organization, even here on Susan's.  So relax.  Don't even think about trying to avoid them by not going back.

The part that I don't understand is what made the "best friend"  "slip" and tell everybody?  Make sure you dont tell them your PIN number or something important like that!

At any rate, don't worry yourself with what other people think..  Most likely everyone but the seriously insecure people will forget all about it and those that do remember, just tell them you are TG and dating your best friend then the two of you will be in the same boat together :p

Oh yeah, dont take my advice! Well, except for the whole dont sweat it most people will forget about it thing.

Yup. My advice as well. The more you act like its no big deal and its matter of fact, the less of a big deal it will be.
