Dodie

My son is 29 years old married with two wonderful sons and wife.  When I started my transition and he found out about me he said he did not care if I had boobs just wants me in their lives.
This shows pure love... not judging someone for who they are inside but understanding that we are all special in our own ways.. black, white, gay, straight or trans.. whatever.
So out of nowhere I get this from him last night. I am sharing my photobucket to so you can see the drawing.

Here is what he said:
I drew for you. I haven't done any artwork like this in at least 10 years so my skills aren't perfect, but this is my representation of your struggle and strength to go fourth with your transition. To me it represents hiding and turmoil in the middle like a black hole in your soul hiding, but then keeps courageously reaching out to the outside wanting to find peace and beauty. So then you finally get out to sunlight and bud into a flower, but sometimes the flower dies when you were unsure about budding. But then there are the seeds in your soul you can't deny so they grow and won't let you deny them anymore and become buds. More buds and flowers are created until you turn into a new flower and embody the person you really are inside. If I completed this drawing to show your whole transition there would be really nice pretty flowers all around it but I felt it was more important in this case just to show your struggle and strength because this large part of your life should be recognized as a reminder of how hard you fought for it. I'm proud to be your son and I love you so much.

Hey Sister.

I'm glad your son loves and accepts you. Thank you for sharing. I don't have kids per se, but I have three brothers that I raised. They aren't mine by birth but I still get calls saying "Hey, Mom! Help!" It's not exactly the same, but I'm old enough to have those parental feelings toward them.

My 20 year old brother shared a piece he did in his art class about me called "oldest growing". When he sent to me I was really moved. It's on my list of tattoos I'm getting.

They are getting better at calling me anything other than mom. Dad is out since we still have our dad. At least, they do. But I've been "Hey, Pop" recently.

Family is amazing, isn't it?

proof if it were ever needed that trans people, before or after transition, can make superb parents and raise great kids.
im about his age, and ive wondered how id feel if my dad came out as gay or trans. i think, even for me, it would be tough at first!

i think your son, to be so loving and open-minded,  is a real man. truly heartwarming stuff.

so lovely and compassionate.  You raised a son you can be proud of!

Wow, that's really cool.  Kinda makes me want to barf a rainbow.  A jealous rainbow that's predominantly green with envy.  I think you did a good job raising that one. [emoji6]

Oh. It is a great and moving story. He should be a prudent and mature soul.

My two sons are shy, but my little daughter is very outspoken, saying promptly anything special in me.

Made me a tear up a bit. Im so glad that your son has so much love for you. I hope for the best in the future for you!  ;D

Dodie, I just love that name, I had an aunt named Dodie, she has passed now, but she was very special to me. Your story of your son is very touching, and heartwarming. I am pre everything, but if or when I transition I can only hope my two sons (about the same age as yours) will be as understanding and supportive as yours. Thanks for sharing.

Hugs,  Stanna

Absolutely wonderful!!!

You give me so much hope.  I am now about the same age as you were when you started.  I have been scared about what my kids reaction will be.  I'm sure they have questions already about the way I've already changed.

I can only hope that I have done half as good a job of being a parent as it appears you have done.

Hugs to you and that intelligent loving son of yours.
