I read somewhere online that T can affect your body's ability to process alcohol. I have never had any issues before, I rarely got hangovers. Since I started T, sometimes I can drink a lot no problem, but sometimes I get super sick, even when I've had a reasonable amount. Is this normal? I'm going to ask my doctor about it when I see her in a few weeks but I wanted to see if any of you had any issues with it.

Since alchohol is a chemical substance that can impact your system quick a lot... I would say that changing the basic chemistry of your system via hormones would change how you react to alcohol!

I have no first hand experience with this, but being on other meds that say "don't mix with alcohol" I'm well aware how multiple meds/substances can negatively or positively affect the human body, and I think it will depend a lot on your personal system and its reaction to T, etc.

Please let me know what the doc says - as a German-decended individual I like my beer!!!

I've read a few places that being on T and indulging in alcohol isn't the best practice, but some sources mostly associate a danger in doing so with orally prescribed T methods, such as a tablet. I found a little reading here that might be helpful: http://www.ftmguide.org/tandhealth.html#liver. Another source I glanced at quickly said that hormones taken in HRT are processed through the liver, so adding the extra work of processing alcohol can be taxing to your system. My recommendation: don't push your luck, and be mindful of your body -- you only get one canvas! Light drinking is probably fine, but binging, getting drunk enough to get hung over, etc. probably isn't the best idea.
