Yup, we still have a drag solder machine. Why, what were you expecting to see?

A couple hundred pounds of molten lead. This is the Devyls work!

Perfect!

What a drag!  Yeah I know, this is  :D, but if it were not for these things, being here would be such a ____ (thought I'd do it did'nt ya?)  ;D   Dani

oooooh nice.

Lead solder? I thought they got rid of all of that stuff due to RoHS, unless it's defense or aerospace.

We do Defense and avionics,  they don't want the lead free. This machine is filled with 63/37, we do RoHS at another work station.

You look great in drag, Devlyn!

I always wondered how they soldered all those little bitty points. And always picture-perfect!

I guess I thought there were a hundred thousand workers, all patiently soldering...

...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...

Don't know if anyone noticed, but that's the ceiling reflected in the lead.

Did not realize, very cool. Also, your job is cool.

Next project: Surface mount diodes.

Not bad.

I don't do this for a living, just a hobby. My last project I built was a software defined radio front end. I found that I do my best work late at night so one night I just pulled out the kit, a tube of solder paste, placed the parts wound the coils and then put everything to bake. Came out pretty good, minimal rework needed. Of course I played with it for a few days then just tossed it in a box in the closet. I've so much stuff I built just sitting there. I dunno, I like to build but I get bored using it, lol. Maybe I should take it out for a spin one of these days again. I've been getting bored with the rest of my radio stuff.
