I recently emailed a friend who I haven't seen in a few years, and who didn't know I had transitioned.

In the message, I explained the transition and included a photo of myself today, but didn't include my old name.

My friend replied that after looking at the photo for some time, he was happy to reconnect, but had no idea who I was, and would I please share my old name.

That feels good. 

Well, what made me happy in a way was that I got called in for a follow up interview for a job.  Been out of the grind for awhile trying to make my own business grow(not working so well).  I'll be happy for a while.

I don't think we can tell from that. If it's like my appointment, you spend a while talking to the nurse, getting basic health and history info, etc. In my case, I then spent about 15 minutes talking to a resident, and then finally both the doc and the resident together.

From my general experience with doctors, I'd expect the blood work to be handled separately from the doctor's office. If it's a large facility, they may have a lab in-house, but otherwise you'd go to whatever lab to get the blood drawn. I wouldn't expect it to have an impact one way or the other, though. The tests only take a few days, and unless something is amiss, I'd think the doctor would then call in a prescription for you. But different places handle things differently.

Mine had the lab on site, he's in a teaching hospital, but the tests were just after my appointment and he sent in my scripts before. If there was a problem he'd have called and told me to stop taking them. He'd been at this a long time.

The teacher sent home a thank you note with a picture from the reading day with the kids. Omg I look totally like a girl!

They may or may not. If they have a phlebotomist on staff they can draw your blood and send it out. If they have a lab there they can do the bloodwork there too. Otherwise they will write an order and send you with it and you go to a lab where they draw.

I've dealt with doctors offices large and small and they usually draw on premises. Only one time I had to go outside to a lab and that was because the phlebotomist had gone home for the day.

My $300 breast form that I'd been waiting a month for finally arrived!!!

I came out to my two best friends yesterday and today.  Both were extremely supportive and gave me a big hug.  Neither one could believe it was me in the pictures I showed them    At least they didn't laugh or run away scared. 

I know our dynamic is going to change but it is good to have that support.  One of them gave me great advice about something another individual did when she transitioned at our office.  I wasn't around at the time but he said that she made sure to go around and talk with everyone as if nothing had changed except her appearance.  That way people who may be uneasy and not want to speak with you can see that while your appearance has changed your personality and intellect have not.  She apparently had a very successful transition and I am going to be calling her soon to get some pointers on how she dealt with everything.

Today was nice and sunny so I went on a hike around one of the smaller lakes up here.  It is a popular place, canoeing, kayaking, dogs, really cool out of the way docks with benches, heavily wooded most of the way.  Not a long walk, 2.6 mi. around but fun.  First time ever hiking in a comfy maxi skirt, it was a blast.  Have not been there in a long time, but seeings its only about a 12 mile drive to get there I think I'll go more often.  Great Day!   Dani

I came out to my oldest daughter and enlisted her support to tell my remaining kids this weekend. She loved the photos I sent her and is very supportive. 

I read a quote today that touched me.. I would rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I am not. 
Had so much meaning to me I posted about it in the MTF forum..

Told my last close friend today and garnered her support. During our conversation I learned just how many trans folk, in different stages of transition, I have worked with over the last several years. My friend is an ex coworker. I hadn't noticed as I try not to judge others. Apparently coming out at work should be a breeze. She, my friend, thinks nothing will change. She also has a hairdresser she'd like to take me to when my hair is long enough to be cut.

I have said it before and I'll say it again. Thank goodness for good friends!

The PBS World channel is showing documenteries about strong women all day long! Also, it is getting very warm here, way above freezing. I'm going for a walk/bike ride up to Arlington's Great Meadow. Yay, it is almost spring!

I had my first Dr.'s appointment today.  Go back next month to get blood work done and get Rx filled.
