Hello All,

I recently started progesterone (5 days now). I am finding that I am hungry all the time and it is getting harder and harder to resist the temptation to eat. I know this is a primary effect of the hormone, but I am wondering will this urge diminish over time? I am excited to see if it produces any effects on my body, but if I have to fight these cravings everyday for the rest of my life, I think I will pass on the pill.

Thanks,
Melissa

I take my progesterone at bed time. It wears off during the night.

I take intramuscular delestrogen and the 2nd to 6th or 7th day of the cycle I am hungry. I eat a lot of super health food and cope with the hunger by increasing fruits and veggies.

I inject progesterone.  And, yes, it makes me very snacky.  I go through hunger spells a few days after injecting.  Hard to control sometimes.
Some people say I'm apathetic, but I don't care.

Thanks Ladies.

Great Idea Cynthia. I will try taking progesterone an hour or two before bed.

There's nothing bad with a protein shake if you are hungry  :)

70%-85% (cocoa content) chocolate with some fruits does the trick. ;)

Maybe my doctor is doing me a favor by not prescribing that. I'm losing weight and loving it. I'm almost down to 170. She says that she generally only prescribes it if spiro alone doesn't get the T levels down to feminine levels.

I take it twice a day, morning and evening and haven't really noticed any increased hunger over that I expect from a diet and increased exercise.  I have lost 20 lbs since I started it two months ago.

I have noticed that chocolate seems to taste better making keeping my calories under control a challenge on some days LOL.

She is probably referring to a PROGESTIN, not progesterone, called medroxyprogesterone acetate and which has quite different effects on the body and mind. It strongly reduces T whereas bio-identical progesterone doesn't usually. I personally would never take this progestin.
