Societys have their own steriotype of average woman and such... but women tend to prefer pinks, lighter colours, cuter stuff than males...

Is there a biological reason why women like girlier things?

Me personally I like girlier things.... but I be damned wearing it as a male.

It's all about attracting a mate.  I read an article (I wish I had a link) that said that nail polish came around because it covered miscoloration that could be seen as a health problem and therefore make them an ineligible potential mate.  The same thing with lipstick.  The redder it was, the more men it attracted.

Now it's society that has decided that women would be the attractors, but getting the best potential mate and passing on genes is a biological need.

I'm sure that was clear as mud.  It also doesn't really apply in the trans community, but that is the origin of girly colors and clothing.

I'm still not full time but am gearing up for it. I now freely wear earrings, tight jeans, have red red nail polish on all the time, and have now started wearing pink women's running shoes. I now pass most of the time or confuse people. I'm now far enough in my transition that I'm more comfortable being more "out" in society.

When he was ready he showed it to his friends and they said he had created a great statue. And the sculptor said he hadn't created anything, the statue was always there, he just cleared away the small peices." Rambo III

I agree with the attract a mate thing.

Yet I think there Is something else on top of that too in that I feel women sometimes wear that pretty dress, lingerie, etc for themselves to feel pretty/sexy and not for attraction reasons just because they can and feel like it. Call it womens prerogative:)

I my opinions hurt anyone it is NOT my intent.  I try to look at things in a neutral manner but we are all biased to a degree.  If I ever post anything wrong PLEASE correct me!  Human after all.

Well blue use to be the 'girl' colour and pink for boys. It changed in WWII (?) when the GIs thought that red/pink was non-masculine.

High heels and wigs were originally designed for men in I think Elizabethan times.

Nail varnish was a sign of a high born woman who did not do manual work as she had maids.

Make up was common - among men - in Roman and Greek empire times. Julius Caesar was reported to wear eye liner. It was a sign of power and wealth.

In Victorian times women where largely confined to society and men dominated public life sot the opportunity to mingle was restricted to arranged events. Except of course for the plebs who as usual did all the work, maybe little has changed in that regard?

I remember having this conversation with a feminist friend who, despite claiming to be completely accepting of me, very vehemently stated that men wearing women's clothing is "mockery" and "just another form of misogyny".

I wish I had a picture of her face in that moment. It was the single most priceless expression I have ever seen on a human face. I've never laughed so hard in my life.
To strive to reach the apex of evolution is folly, for to achieve the pinnacle is to birth a god.

also agree its about finding a mate..

Corsets were worn by woman to make there hips look bigger, as in old times.. women with big hips were seen as more fertile and were able to give birth. I actually have quite wide hips..(a real hour glass figure) all the women in my family have wide hips. My mother never saw me for about 4 years (a fall out over my transition).. and when we mended our relationship.. the first thing she commented on.. was my hips.. she said.. well i see you inherited the family hips. Now my mother loves having a daughter.

I also a very girly girl.. i wear most of the time nail polish.. i love wearing makeup, high heel shoes and big hooped or long flowing earrings .. i love wearing dresses.. I wear corsets from time to time before.. I have actually have worn a Victorian style corset once before.. to a party.. a friend had Victorian themed party.. I was laced into the corset... (it was very tight.).. and i wore one of these wide puffy dresses..  it was a lot of fun.

Lingerie.. i love wearing sexy underwear.. mostly for me.. to feel sexy and it something only i know about ... these days.. well i have a boyfriend.. so i model it for him too.. I love making my self look pretty for my man..
Enjoying ride the hormones are giving me... finally becoming the woman I always knew I was

One of the great feminine feelings is going to a business meeting looking utterly professional and knowing you are wearing beautiful lingere, and no one knows
