It has been mentioned that the ENDA as passed by the House will not survive in the Senate or on Bush's desk. If there is a veto, there is no override.
The Congress must begin to feel what we feel, what the groups who support us feel, and feel it to the point of discomfort.
Barney Frank needs to hear from his home district that they want an inclusive ENDA. He must hear from anyone else who will send snail mail or call his office.
Senator Kennedy was a real waffler on this one and needs to have everyone in Massachusetts, especially those who were married in Massachusetts, remind him that his actions are inconsistent with the will of those whom he represents.
Nancy Pelosi needs to feel pressure by letter and phone call.
In 2007 every one of the 350 groups who support an inclusive ENDA needs to send as many people as they can to the Hill for Legislative Initiative Days. Everyone must go there in lock step and sit until the legislator will see them.
Lastly, another picketing of HRC headquarters is absolutely necessary. I was there the day after I had surgery. HRC did not take well to being picketed so they invited some marchers in for lunch as a means of taking the public eye off of them.
Let us make no mistake: we are dealing with some treacherous people in leadership positions. We cannot trust them and we must make our displeasure and disgust with their actions very well known.
Thank you for giving me the soapbox.
