I got the camera for my 21st, last present my granny gave me, i've always liked playing with videos, for christmas I'm hoping to get some simple stuff to try making music, now that'll be tough - i am so unmusical, despite loving to hear it. Should be fun. Pointless noodling for life.

A new plate for your tripod??  Must be another one of those English terms that don't translate well into American (like boots and bonnets...means car trunks and hoods in Americanese).

My first thought was "is that where you sit your cake while filming?" but I decided it probably meant something else.  Whatever it is, I bet it's "the dog's bollocks".

A plate is what holds a camera to a tripod, and mine is cracked and no longer fit for purpose. If I had a plate, my videos would indeed be the DBs.
