On November 20th I asked a friend for a name of a Dr..  I went in with no expectations, just to see how to go about starting the transition process.  I walked out with a prescription for T.  I then went for a consultation for chest surgery in January.  Well super long story kind of short.....

On March 23rd I am getting my ovaries taken out then on March 31st I am getting my chest surgery! This took a month long fight with my insurance company.   Many phone calls, letters, faxes, 2 appeals but we won!

These last 4 months has been a whirlwind but it has also been 47yrs of being in the wrong body.

I'm a little bit scared but a whole lot excited.  Searching and research on everyone else s advice and tips is what my next 2 weeks will consist of!

Congrats! Going in fast, which must feel good.
A question, though. Is it normal to have two surgeries that quickly after one another? I know that my hospital requires a 3-4 month interval between two procedures.

My Drs. work at different hospitals.  They are both out patient, the ovaries being only labriscopic.  Plus I only have to be out of work once.

You are doing great to get both surgeries so quickly. How did you get your insurance to pay for both of them?  Are you interested in get a hysterectomy too or are you in menopause already?

I had a hysterectomy when I was 30 (fibroid issues) and they left my ovaries in then since they were healthy and didn't want to throw me into menopause.  I believe my Dr. just said that I was having pain in my ovaries (which I have had off and on for the past year).  Then the fight was just with the insurance company.....jumping through their hoops for proving Gender Disorder in order to get the Top Surgery.

As a friend said....I get to go through Menopause and Puberty at the same time!!!
