When a coworker pulls you aside and asks if you're transsexual (6 months HRT, getting obvious), it's probably time to inform management. The woman who figured me out is supportive, btw.

This'll be a fun conversation! Advice from corporate legal team is that, once I inform management, all policies related to gender immediately apply. Restrooms, apprehension stuff (I'm asset protection/loss prevention), etc.

I'm not full time yet, so this'll be an interesting next few weeks!

Wow, good for you!  I wish you much relief and happiness going forward with this. ;)
Some people say I'm apathetic, but I don't care.

Good luck and best wishes that it goes smoothly and without incident. Keep us informed!

All the best, VikingArchangel!
You seem to be in a good place already, but I hope anyway that it all works out well.

Haha congrats!!!

That hasn't happened to me outright but it's probably more of people being polite. People have commented on my hair and that's it. But coworkers I don't really interact with have referred to me as "she" and "her" in passing.

In any case good luck!

Wishing you the best of luck!!!

I have to go into the office for a couple days soon, I telecommute so it is a rare occasion. I am debating about telling my boss then. I am sure I will chicken out but the nail polish is going to raise some eye brows ;)

Letter written, list of anticipated speed bumps made...both get handed to a manager I'm hoping isn't hostile on Tuesday. She transferred from a location where a couple trans folks work, so...*crosses fingers*

Laughing sooo hard right now...apparently, half the store already had me figured out. Most think I'm just a really gay guy, whatever that means. I corrected one girl, and she about squealed before hugging me. And then told pretty much everyone. I emailed my boss an hour later, and officially make the announcement as planned on Tuesday.

Good luck and I hope all goes well. It sounds like the cats out of the bag on the most part already so hopefully as a result it goes smoothly.

Update: Store manager was informed (as agreed) yesterday. It's out of my hands now!
He paged the ranking employees to his office and the looks I got after told me what was said.
Today is the scheduled announcement to management, tomorrow is my day off so they can talk without me there.

wont it be awesome when .... one day .... we wont even need to be having these discussions ....

good luck, and thank you for your courage to be ... you.  your courage is helping make this an easier path to travel for those of us that will be following in your foot steps next month ... next year ... or next decade.   :D

That'll be awesome, hun! But it's our generation of trans folks that have an obligation to show the world we're not circus freaks, and that Mr. Springer's circus is not representative of our community. We're normal people, the same as them, and it will take work to show them that.

Update: Met with my store manager and HR rep today. Corporate is behind me 100%, and as of 3-26-2015, I will officially be the real me at work. That I'm currently the top loss prevention person in the district might have influenced this, lol! For others about to come out at work: Be indispensable, and you should be fine!

That's wonderful, - congratulations  ;D

Having worked in places where my status as a trans-woman was known, supported and accepted I know just how important that is.

YAY! I'm glad to hear things are working out so well for you :D
