Transgender physician general addresses conference, reaches out to transgender youth

Dr. Rachel Levine promised to work hard for every Pennsylvanian. Yet she made an even more impassioned promise to young transgender people, especially those thinking of killing or hurting themselves.

"What I want to tell those kids is I am there for you. We are here for you," Levine said Friday during a speech at a conference attended by transgender people from all over the United States and a dozen foreign countries. "Please don't harm yourself and please don't despair, because we are there for you."
