When I started school I naturally used my left hand for writing and drawing ect but I was made to use my right hand it's caused me a lot of confusion I think it has been one of the contributing factors to dyslexia . I can use my left hand when I'm fixing cars or computers but it is noticeably weaker than my right

I write 60% of the time with my left hand and 40% with my right hand.  ( I broke my right arm twice in 1st grade, I am very accident prone)
I eat and cut my food with my right hand
Drive with both hands
Use three computer networks. One on my left, one center and one right. I use my left and right hand for my mice. I operate and write code for some of the systems I use.

I am a mechanical engineer and deal with an lot of problems during the day and on my 2nd and 3rd shifts.

Left handedness is strong in my family. My father, my sister, her children, and I are all lefties.  (None of us works in IT.)

Lefty here.  Interesting how we have a disproportionate amount of left-handedness here.  Isn't it supposed to be 10% of the population roughly?

One thing I always thought was funny about my handedness is that everything that may be used in violence (throwing, hitting, knives, etc) uses my right hand but everything that is used in finesse or for creative/growth purposes (eating, writing, drinking, etc) uses my left.  It's like my left is good and my right is evil, heh heh.

Hmm. Well I'm very much right-handed and right-brained. Yet my personality is very girly, and emotionally-tuned.

But now I think about it, all of the girls dated by the old me, were left handed.

I doubt that's 'a thing' :~D

I can't write well with my left hand but I can do most other things with either hand. I'm not currently working in IT but my back ground is a mix of Cisco systems (I hate networking though) and graphic design/commercial art. However I did work in cabinetry for a while around a bunch of "good ole boy's" and it made me hate life sooo much. *Grumbles*

I'm kind of a strange lefty. I write/draw left-handed, perform most daily tasks left-handed, but certain things I can do ambidextrously. I can use guns with both hands, I have my computer and gaming controls set up for right-handed use, and in a pinch I can defend myself with melee weapons right-handed.
To strive to reach the apex of evolution is folly, for to achieve the pinnacle is to birth a god.

When the Stryker fires, all turn to dust in its wake.

I can use both hands for just about everything even writing, but  I mainly use my right for writing.  I studied in the automotive field, but the school canceled the program before I finished.

I am left handed and even though I am good at computers, I prefer working with people.  Like in Childcare, Teaching, Aged care or maybe even psychology....

P.S. Oh and mentally I am a bimbo. Never good at engineering, math or IT stuff, but I've always liked and enjoyed using personal computers. I always thrived more at using words, writing, the spoken language, rather than math, repairing or building stuff, which really sucks, I feel so useless.

Personally, I value those skills (writing and being able to articulate thoughts well) over IT skills. I'm always striving to improve myself in those areas. You're not a "mental bimbo" at all, silly, and far from useless. I'd argue that the skills you possess are some of the most useful a person can have. :)

Ambidextrous, I can hold a glass of wine with either hand. I think it is an Australian skill thing

I never believed that stereotype. In my math and engineering classes the ones who did best were the women. Well, me included. :)

That said, I can write really well and I have been told that I should go into law or run for office. However, I don't see that happening. I don't want to be stuck with a law degree that I cannot take overseas if I ever decide to leave the U.S. So I'm an engineer and IT person. It pays the bills, I guess.

From the sample in so far it would indeed look like we tend to have a significantly higher proportion of left handers than the norm. To those therefore who still assert that being transsexual is a life choice or driven by environment; well explain this away matey? Do many of us chose to be left handed as well?
I think that when I decided not to include ambidextrous as an option it may have been the correct thing to do. It is measured to be less than 1% of the population whereas judging by the feedback we might have had 20 to 30 percent who may have selected that option. I was trying to remove subjectivity and come somewhere close to what a laboratory would judge people to be after extensive experimentation: speed, dexterity, reaction time............. throwing a knife at your face! Hopefully a few more folk will participate to make the conclusion more robust. It's quite strange, anomalous even that physically born females are less likely to be left handed than males. Brains eh? Weird things.
