:icon_chick:  Well not my first bra per say that I have had on me, but the very first one to learn and be shown how to do correctly! (I have just had a few bras in the past that someone else did for me)

Can I cheerfully say it again?  I learned how to put on a bra today! The right way!  :icon_yikes: I also learned...what exact size I am and which other sister bra's I can wear as well as adding extensions to carry it even further. (Which I was clueless about) Not only that, but I met a wonderful store manager at Lane Bryant who totally understood me and did not judge me. She went into the dressing room with me to show me how it was done. I was very nervous though, cause I came in looking very much boy (unshaven and all) and felt like I needed to explain myself. She said I took a big step coming in and said she was happy. Best experience with clothing I have had in a while. I learned that I am currently a 46B and depending on the bra type and such may or may not have to add extensions. We tried a 48C but I could not quite fill out the cup, but I was close. I also learned a criss cross bra was best for me.  :icon_builder:

The best part is she even brought in some baby blue clothing to go with it, just to see. It was a fun experience even though I started out all uncomfortable.
At the end I noticed the Manager and the other employee there were calling me him and he. As I am a two-spirit I was ok with it, BUT the woman in me insisted I not leave the store and let them think I was just a guy. I told them the whole thing, hrt and all. So there was that  :icon_workout:

Odd thing is not a lot of 46B Bra's are made, so we actually really tried a 44B and added extensions (2 inches) worth to make the difference.

Well done, that was a very big brave step to make  :)

Thank you, it was something I had been avoided for a long time, like a very long time. I felt like it was just time to take the plunge (but maybe not plunge lines)

Congratulations, that is fantastic.

Thanks. I hope there comes a day when this is not so embarrassing and nervous.    :icon_lips:

That's where I had my first official professional bra fitting done.

90% of my bra's I have bought there.

For me I am lazy so I put all my bras on like a sports bra.

Easy, fast and no fuss.

Just my nickels worth.

Good for you! It takes real courage sometimes to do the simple things. BUT they will get easier.

A lot of us end up getting extensions. I need about an inch extension. I wear a 38B Bali and a 40C in the JC Penney line, whatever it is, the label is too worn to figure out. You know what really bites. All the cute ones stop at 36. Maybe I'll give a 36 C a try with extensions next time I go to buy one. The thing is, they don't wear out that fast. I hand wash and air dry. I really like the cute ones too. The larger sizes look sort of not so cute.

How do you put them on like a sports bra? What I was shown was to 1. Place it behind my back with the cups facing inward. 2. Fasten it in the front 3. Twist it and then place my arms in the straps. 4. Lift up and adjust and push my breast into the center of the cups.

How far can you use extensions until you are way off in poportions in relation to cup size?

I just attach the bra together clips and pull it down over my head just like a sports bra.

I also have the proper size band with my fullC cup size no extention.

If a sports bra can do it then so can a normal.

I do not go through the backwards cup and hook deal.

Anyway it's the way I do it.

What is a criss cross bra style like? Is it similar to a racerback bra? I've found I like those just because the straps never slide down over my shoulder, though when you're shopping for a 42A bra you have to take what you can find. I may pick up an extender or too also, they sound handy :)

I feel you - the 42A's I wear are impossible to find locally, but i've managed to find a web site that stocks these plus sizes (company is called Leading Lady Bras).

Irritating, isn't it?  :(

well she showed me quickly that move the back straps to a position that makes an X pattern on your back, crossing the bands/straps and attatching them to a different place. It adds more support for the strap to stay in place on your shoulders. She advised me to get those kind, yet oddly it doesnt say criss cross on the lane bryant website, so i am confused. maybe they use a different name.

Wow I never even realised this until now. I actually took a look at some of the designer brands online and you are right, most stop at 36 or 38 at the most. I started out as a 36 and am now more 34, but I never thought 36 was even big, let alone at the top of the fashion ranges, there are loads of women with bigger upper bodies than me. Considering the proportion of the population thats supposed to be overweight, I would imagine theres a lot of women who can't buy certain brands. Seems crazy to me!

I THINK IN FACT they are simular, but the racer takes the X part to the top, bypassing the shoulders .....now that you told me what racers are, id rather have those, no shoulders to worry about.

Still not sure how I could but a bra over my big head like a sports bra though...vs twist the back method.

CrysC

if you can find in your size
and as long as it isn't a garish dark color you can't wear under anything but black..
then go racerback.  Always go with racerback.
Those front close babies are the easiest to put on, show the least under clothes and never fall off the shoulders!  Never... fall... off... the.. shoulder!
I really can't understand why anything else is sold.

It's possible but I think maybe I have a bias...

CryC, is has to do with strap placement. Different bras show under different types of shirts. I see lots of young girls showing off their bra straps, but it looks tacky, at least to me.
April 22, 2015, the day of my first face to face pass in gender neutral clothes and no makeup. It may be months to the next one, but I'm good with that!
