the most expensive I have is 20 dollars. The problem is the further I transition I have this incredible aching need to buy a beautiful dress. I really don't have the money for an expensive dress but I want one so incredibly bad.

Lol.... I am kind of lame.... I wear the same jeans or pants... at the moment just regular sweatpants.

I bought a pricy sweatshirt back in Fall 2014... and an outfit that cost like 70$ pants and shirt by Sean Paul.  One day event.... a work party... with one person in mind. Yeah... at least my intended recipient complimented me... dont even get me started on this lol. And he touch my shirt. Was it a waste of money?? Yes... in hindsight... because clothes dont do much for me.

Otherwise that was the last outfit I bought.

Jeans, hardly wear them - but got 4 for $4 each on a closeout.   I'm good for a lifetime with those.

Dresses, perhaps $50 for work wear.  The everyday stuff is $20 or less.

I was expected/required to wear jeans every day until I was 43.  I'm taking a loooong vacation from them.  Maybe someday I'll go back?  The one pair of women's jeans I have was like $14.  I wore them back in my andro days.

I did pay $99 for a formal dress, but it was marked down 75%.

No sense in paying a lot for clothes that probably won't fit right in six months anyway.

that's exactly the problem I'm having buying a beautiful dress, because I desperately need to get my weight down for health reasons and to look great in an expensive dress , but the weight issue is the biggest problem because I don't want to only wear the dress a couple of times if I can get my weight which I desperately need to do. I always buy clearance sale dress which can look good , but only cost 10 dollars so I don't care if I can't fit in them if I get my weight down.

My spouse seems to have no budget when it comes to shopping and she has "handed down" some very nice tops and jeans that don't fit her now or she just wanted more closet space.

I took a pair of $200 jeans that were to short for me and made some super cute cutoffs out of them a couple summers ago, like they say "re-purpose" ;)

I like Levis and Wrangler Jeans... Full priced
I have around 4 Long Dresses, 6 short dresses and don't know how many tops and sweaters and quite a few pairs of shoes and boots

I think my obsession with clothes rates high in costs  :-\

I just love clothes, tend to buy something or 2 every month, although holding back currently due to lack of an income stream... but will be happy soon, I hope  ::)

Edit: OK $AU 150 for dress and 140 for Jeans ::)

My most expensive pair of jeans cost $20.

My most expensive dress ... well, it's bondage gear. Ahem. Yes, not inexpensive.

I have nothing expensive. Everything I wear is cheap or clearance or sale priced. Most expensive dress I have is the one I'm wearing (see my avatar), which is $25. That sweater I have was $30.

Jeans that I wear daily are $15 Gloria Vanderbilt, mossimo (target), Jordache (Walmart) or whatever is on sale at burlington's. I'm not buying too much now as my sizes are rapidly changing. I was 12, down to 10, 8 and now 6 which seems to be where I'm settling.

I live by the motto that "only saps pay retail". :)
I have Calvin Klein dresses that cost $138 retail, but I paid less than $50 for each of them.
My jeans retail for $60-$80 and I get them for half of that, or less.
I stalk items that I want and wait for the price to drop.  I am partial to CK because I can get a dress that fits my boobs and lats, while not accentuating my lack of hip curves to bad.  Fit and Flare FTW!  Of course my therapist tries to tell me to wear 3/4 sleeve so as to not accentuate my broad shoulders too much.  My wife says she is nuts and would kill for my arms and build.  w/e ... lol
Some people say I'm apathetic, but I don't care.

Can also find great designer label clothes at thrift stores. I shop Savers all the time and have picked up all kinds of great finds (Eg. True Religion, Diesel, Guess Premium, 7 for all Mankind, Miss Me - each pair of jeans for under $15 ; also lots of tops and dresses for under $5 - BKE, International Concepts, Apt 9, Maurices, Heart and Soul, Free People, Alfani, etc.)

You just have to make sure there is nothing seriously wrong with it, some of them do have issues like stains/dirt, pulled threads, missing buttons, or split seams. Some of these are an easy fix though if you have a little sewing skill. Although I have found plenty of clothes in new condition, and even with the store tags on them. So there is the chance you find something like that as well.

Some people actually shop these thrift stores during sales and then resell their finds on ebay to supplement their living.

Yikes!  If my husband saw this question, I can already see his eyes rolling.  I'm somewhat of a shopaholic and if I see something I absolutely cannot live without I buy it. I don't wear dresses much, but I do wear skirts and tops. Most expensive shirt/top in closet right now as of last week was around $260ish? and latest jeans were Missme at around $125. You did not ask about shoes and purses --- those are my weakness and I love designer labels in those. Helps to have nine sisters and for our birthdays we all pitch in to buy that birthday month a nice purse.

I WILL own a pair of Louboutin someday (and choo, prada, chanel, weitzman, et$, et$$, et$$$) .

For now it's all target, forever 21, and urban outfitter... I try to keep any single thing under 30$ unless it's something I can't stop thinking about it and must have it.

My most expensive one is a black cocktail dress that went for like $400...it was my mom's though and I got it from her.
My gender problem isn't half as bad as society's.  Although mine is still pretty bad.

I would love to find the things I love on clearance. But the problem is.. I rarely find things that I really like. So when I do, I don't pay any attention to the price tag. Clothing is magic. When we wear exactly what we adore; our vision of self is so much better than otherwise. Why wear rags when you can be so much happier about how you look. If a 10$ pair of jeans is what you love. Wear them. If you want that 600$ dress. Go for it. If you think you can't afford it. Find a way. You have an entire lifetime to build your wardrobe. Make it yours. :D

*Hell yes*. I have my eye on a pair of those. Especially now my feet have shrunk :~D

What an outrageous price tag.

Now I'm getting my financial stuff sorted and moving house ... maybe I can let these in alongside the dress I mentioned earlier ... :~]

I feel like I'd have to keep them in a *safe*, though!

Jeans 5$
Tops  3$
Dresses  Most perhaps 6$
All courtesy of various thrift shops.

One day I did splurge as in totally by a factor of 10 with a $60 dress, on sale.

It is difficult. You see all these adds on the tele, print, roadside. You see other women in really cute dresses and think "it would look great on me too". You dream.
