I hope this isn't too weird , but I noticed that I smell different between my legs, meaning my private area. Is this what girls smell like or is this just a different smell than normal because of hormones?

I believe that is the hormones switching your pheromones. It has been one of my favorite unexpected parts of hrt. I hated smelling like a man.

I've noticed different smell everywhere that I sweat, which began a couple weeks after starting hormones.

Last week I accidentally smelled a pair of underwear I had worked out in the day before (don't ask how this happened, please, but it was inadvertent, really) and was completely shocked because it exactly matched one of the scents I associate with cis girl private areas. My jaw just about dropped off my face and I double-checked that they weren't actually my wife's.

So at least some of the smells are "authentic."

I absolutely hate the way I smell (not on HRT yet) and the fact that I can't actually smell my own body odour makes it even worse because everyone else (but me) CAN smell it!! Most of the time I either hear someone say loudly "someone smells/stinks/needs a bath around here!!" and other times I hear people say they can smell something "burning". :(

Did I mention that I hate the way I smell?! Oh, yes, I did. :(

Scent change was one of the first effects of HRT I noticed.

That's good, so it's actually a girl scent.

the first signs of HRT  I noticed were breast tenderness and hair reduction. body odors only changed later on

The scent for me in the genital area is definitely different (in a good way). One of the things that has absolutely thrilled me is that I no longer have any scent coming from my armpit area, even after working out. I've even dared others to smell my armpits and they too are surprised that there is really no smell.

I dont notice the scent change, but the animals do. My cat and my parents dogs reacted to me like a person they had never met for a few days.
Being transgender does not give anyone a free pass or a hand out... we just want a fair shake and an opportunity as any AMERICAN and that is the freedom and LIBERTY that I fought for and defended.

When I stated HRT  a few months ago I did notice i lost the smell from my underarms and the smell in my crotch are turned into a sweet smelling scent which went on for a few weeks. Now scent is gone from both areas. I don't know if they are really gone or if it because i just cannot detect the odors.

Same her re: armpits. I was talking to some girl friends about this, and they were surprised because they said they do smell at the end of the day or after working out. I have to confess not to having paid close attention to other girls' BO in the past, so I don't know what to make of that. It might be that, by comparison to my old male stank, this is undetectable. I don't think so, though. So I was wondering if maybe my hormones are in an in-between zone right now, where the male stank is gone but whatever leads to the female version of that hasn't kicked in yet.

Dunno, just speculating. I don't mind this, it's amazing to me that antiperspirant is now optional...

I can usually just hang my clothes back up at the end of the day because I have no body odor now. I have very little to wash on wash day and because of that my clothes last longer.

With that said - there are areas of my body that can now develop distinctly female smells in certain situations.

Ahh, the "new girl" smell.  Fortunately it does not seem to wear off.

My wife noticed that right away and does not miss the old funk one bit.

I do my best to NOT sweat. Since I started in November this is pretty easy. However we're coming up on summer. Its a lot harder. I do believe my girl area has changed in scent though.

My body scent has changed. One night I was in bed and my face was resting on my arm. I smelled a the scent of an ex of mine from 20 years ago coming off my skin. It was really weird.

The hormones do change your smell.  I told an anecdotal story related to this in reply to Stephanie regarding the stare of children.

Yes an expected and very welcome change for our olfactory sense, presentation and personal lives.

Same here... I never was one of those intense smelling people before hrt but what I did have has lessened as well. When I work out even in the 88+ degree heat and smell my pits they only have a faint sweet smell.

Speaking of smells... I am sooo sensitive to the smell of men's natural scent now!! I love it when I catch the scent of a strong, healthy, and clean guy jogging shirtless in the park... oh yes!

Anyone else notice that they perceive scents differently too or other such things?

I've noticed that and wondered if it will stay. I remember before puberty that I had no significant scent and later noticed with children I was around that they didn't either. This changed a few years into puberty. Perhaps it will with us as well. I've noticed a unique scent when I take shirts off lately, It smells wonderful! But, then I'm a lesbian. Perhaps we don't smell, later we do, then we get used to it and filter it out unless it's particularly strong. Time will tell, or one of our more advanced sisters will.
April 22, 2015, the day of my first face to face pass in gender neutral clothes and no makeup. It may be months to the next one, but I'm good with that!

Yah. The smell thing is weird huh! I always thought I smelled wrong and hate T stinkyness. I love my smell now. I do smell different, sweat less, and also my sense of smell is different - stronger. I can often catch odors that others can't. Useful in restaurants. Not so useful when I can smell the faint whiff of cat pee somewhere and can't localise it! Blessing and a curse lol!

I went hiking yesterday and where I go people let their dogs run free off a leash. It seemed like every single dog I came across (at least 5) wanted to sniff my crotch whereas before HRT they wouldn't come near me. I also noticed that I dont smell musky anymore.

Been on E, P, and S for 15 days.
Carpe diem.
