Hey everyone  ;D  I'm still very doubtful about taking T due to possible hair loss (yeah vain I know but it's the only part of me I like)

So I'm considering what I can do without T and I have a question about the changes to people faces when on it.  Is it a redistribution and growth of muscles around the jaw? If so, are there any facial exercises that can be done to give the same results ?

Just an idea.

Thanks Lake

I have the same problem about taking T, as well as being too young to go on it without my parents finding out. I just love my hair too much, haha! What worked for me was to just lose weight (keep in mind, I was quite heavy already) and the thinner face looked more masculine. Maybe not the best answer, but I hope you find a solution to this :)

Yeah I definitely look more masculine with a thinner face but I've noticed that guys on T seem to have a stronger looking jaw.  I'm only guessing here so someone correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't that be muscle rather than bone growth ?

Are there any links you could share about the hair loss? I'm sure there are people out there who are genetically pre-disposed to it, but just based on people I know, I can't say that anyone has less hair than when they started T.
T: 12/5/2014 | Top: 4/21/2015 | Hysto: 2/6/2016 | Meta: 3/21/2017

I don't come here anymore, so if you need to get in touch send an email: maxdoeswork AT protonmail.com

After your puberty as your birth sex yeah it is muscle growth and fat redistrubution not bone growth. Losing weight did work for me look slightly more masculine. In regards to losing your hair I'm the same as you :p. My hair is the only part of me I kinda like. But I now want T as I'd rather be a bald guy and seen as my true self in public rather than have hair but for the majority of the time seen as a woman in public.

Ive seen a few online ftms losing their hair. On T you age about 3-4 years for every year you're on it. A lot of ftms are bald/losing hair by 30's if they've started about 16. I think there was a youtuber called Charles/charlie something like that and if you look at his first video compared to his later ones his hair is barely there :S

You can always go on a lower dose of T. Thats what I plan to do. OR have a hyrestectomy which will remove a lot of estrogen production!

Some people are born with more masculine faces, so genetics can also play into things. Losing weight can also help. I dunno about exercises to make the muscles in the face more defined, but maybe laughing could help?

That's not true at all.

Some people are genetically predisposed to hairloss, but trans men don't bald at a quicker rate or more prolifically than cis men.

Some people are prone to hair loss. I haven't lost any and I'm three years in. Also, I don't think that T ages you rapidly, if anything, I look way younger than I am. My husband is losing some hair, but only in that his hairline is changing to match his grandfathers. T doesn't turn us into 30 year old bald guys who look 60, that's just genetics. If you are prone to hair loss you'll see it in your family history.

As for the OP, you can do chin and jaw exercises, or general weight loss will affect the shape of your face, but there's no concrete perfect way to change your face shape. After I lost some weight my face became more square and it helped with my passing.

I have known a few cismen who started loosing their hair in their 20s so it is more likely just genetic for people to loose their hair that early rather than just the fact of being on T.
