Hi everyone.  Well, here I am and I am so glad to be here too.  My therapist suggested I get involved in some transgender support groups so I joined this one and another one I use to belong to awhile ago.  There is an LGBT resource center near where I live, I have not been there in awhile though and just not ready to visit.  So here is a little background about me.

I am a 56 year old pre-op transsexual woman who is legally blind and recently was diagnoses with bladder cancer which is now in remission.  My doctors are monitoring me for now.  Like most of us I was born with GID and have identified as being female every since.  I did however not transition until my late 40's early 50's, transitioning earlier in life would have been much easier for me but I am here, alive and doing well as to be expected.

There have been many challenges in my life, not just from being a trans woman but just being blind.  It is amazing how people judge others.  If you do not fit into their mold of what a person is to look, behave and live right you are ostracized by their standards.  I have had my share of the lot of them.  We do have to build up a tough shield, I learned that a long time ago.

For over 25 years I was a homemaker, literally and did enjoy every bit of it.  No longer together with my ex and I am now going back to school to finish my education, never too late to learn.  Studying for a certificate in Administrative Assistant at the local vocational school.  I did go to college before, it just was not for me though.  So being a secretary or Administrative Assistant is what I want to be when I grow up.

A word of advice for those just starting out in their transition and are still young, stay in school, please!! You will be better off, when you finish school and receive a good career and be able to afford and make your transition much smoother.  I have taken the hard road, it will take longer but it will be done, patience is something that is required and I thank God for giving me this gift.

Blessings to all of you.
