I had my first electrolysis appoinment friday last week. My technician seems very knowledgeable and has been in the business for 30 years, however after doing some internet research i found a number of different sites saying that Thermolysis is not recommended for deep rooted, densely placed androgen facial hairs(i.e.: typical mtf beard). The risk for scarring is high, and the effectiveness is lower. A lot of my hairs also have distorted and twisted roots, which i understand make it even harder for thermolysis to transfer the heat.

Now I'm questioning if i should return to this technician, because this is the only method she uses. Should i search out a technician who can perform Galvanic or Blend? I want to do this right the first time around, and not waste money or worse.. damage my skin.

I'm about 6 months into electrolysis. My electrologist told me she is starting out with thermolysis but will probably switch to blend later on. I've got quite a lot of hairs to get rid of so thermolysis sounds like it's quicker and likely my best chance of making progress in a reasonable timeframe. Mine are quite deep rooted too.

I'm definitely noticing a difference at this stage. Anyway, good luck whatever you decide and hope it goes well.
