How does one know if a binder is too large?

I just got a new binder from gc2b. I was right in between the small and medium sizes, but I went with a medium because I am rather unfortunately large-chested (32DD/E) so I was worried that the small would not fit. However, I feel as though the medium doesn't do a great job at compressing (although because I'm so large in that area to begin with, I don't know realistically how much is possible...)

So I'm not entirely sure if I should try getting a small instead? I'm kinda worried that the small wouldn't even fit over my shoulders (also somewhat concerned that I might end up dislocating my shoulder again while trying to get it on/off. That would probably be an awkward emergency room trip 0.o )
Anyway. Sorry for the bit of a ramble :P

TLDR; is there a good way to tell if a binder is too large?

As someone also in between small and medium I highly recommend sticking with the medium.
