hey I was thinking of getting laser hair removal when I'm older coz I hate all my body hair. I was just wondering what it is like. what does it feel like physically. how long would it take for full body? how much would it cost? how many appointments? I really wanna get laser when I'm older my hair on my legs, feet, bum and snail trail makes me feel sick and when I shave I get so itchy. anyone know any gender friendly clinics in Australia coz I am planning my life ahead and I get anxiety when I don't know what will happen. I'm really excited for the day when I never have to shave ever again

I've only had laser done on my face and it does hurt especially around sensitive areas like under the chin and upper lip. It feels like a sunburn for a day or 2 after and after about 2 weeks the hair will start falling out and some will regrow usually thinner.   For laser to really work you should have a minimum of 6 sessions. I've had 9 treatments so far and my face is about 90% hair free. I plan on having a few more. Places around me cost between $100-200usd for your full face but you can also by packages of 6-8 treatment for less. The price goes up depending on how large of an area you want to cover. The place I go to would probably charge around $3000 I'm guessing for a full body package. Not cheap but worth it if it makes you happy. Also if you plan on going on hormones then I would only get my face lasered since hormones alone should drastically reduce your body hair.

I did three sessions on laser then switched to electrolysis ( I am 52). HRT reduced my torso hair to next to nothing and what remains is peach fuzz.

Full body laser would be super expensive. Probably over $10,000 if you had to do full legs, buttocks, chest, back, face etc

I would probably do certain areas at a time and get on HRT to loose some hair from hormones

Yeah, my laser technician recommended waiting to do any body stuff (I was considering my chest) because hormones should take care of that greatly!

wow I was way off. I added up the prices from the place i go and it would be around $8000 plus or minus depending on how hairy you actually are. You could also try the tria beauty at home laser its $450 might be worth getting. I've never used it so dont know if its even worth getting but its a lot cheaper might be worth getting.

I had my whole body done, mostly with diode laser and alexandrite.  Every session improved how it looked (permanently lighter and finer) so eventually you end up with feminine hair (maybe after 4-6 sessions), and if you keep going it disappears entirely (maybe 8-10 sessions).  Since sessions are usually spaced 8-12 weeks apart, it can take 1-2 years before you see results you're happy with.  Shop around for the best packaged pricing. 🙂

keep an eye out for deals.  I found a new place a few years ago that did $900 to clear the body with laser.  that included 3 or 5 treatments for anything I wanted.  I can't remember if it was 3 or if it was 5.  Follow ups were $50 a treatment on a per section basis.

For the most part the pain was not too bad.  Other than my face, the worst was the skin above my shin bone.  The face definitely hurts the most.  I can't begin to say how many laser and electrolysis treatments I've had on my face. 

Hormones help a lot but, sometimes you can be born a wookie and then you have to go through what I did.

I just had my first laser done on Friday.  Is breaking out in a ton of whiteheads normal? I heard about the redness and puffiness, but no one said about all the whiteheads.  I guess it's all the oil brought up, but it's worrying me a little.  I also realized how much of my beard is blond hair after 24 hours of growth.  It still felt like a full days of normal growth, just very light in color.  I guess electrolysis is a definite. 

I do laser on my face and it hurts but I use an anesthetic cream. Basically Lidocaine with other stuff.

Body I haven't tried but I'm waiting for HRT to lessen my body hair. I shave but hate the stubble.

The sensation with laser on my face is basically like needles being shot at your face. There are several variables that the tech will adjust, usually the duration of the pulse and intensity plus one other. They are supposed to increase in intensity with each session so it may hurt more as you go further along.

For me it has been very effective as I get a smooth face within a week before it starts to grow back, but weaker and more sparse.

Electrolysis was working but it was painful, time consuming and expensive. I had a thick beard. I was burning an hour each week and only part of my face cleared. So I switched to laser and when it's done I'll go back to the electrologist to finish off.

I know a great Laser Hair Removal place in Lismore NSW. It is called Destiny and the girls that work there have had lasering experience with several transwomen, including me. The price to laser the entire beard is $150/ session. When they first lasered me it left the area feeling sunburned for two days and the worst areas to do were around the ears and top lip.

I'm in the process of getting laser for my facial hair. I briefly mentioned women getting full body stuff done to see what she'd say (my guy reason for the removal was good enough that I didn't need to give her the real reason) and she said she had it done on herself. She tried to do full body sessions, but after an hour, with numbing cream, she couldn't take it anymore. I know she told me 6 sessions on the facial hair, so I'd imagine it's the same for the body too. After that it's just an occasional treatment for stragglers. My total cost if it really does only take 6 instead of the 20 people keep telling me, is $2000. Keep in mind that's for a total of about 1.5 hours of treatment. For full body, I agree with the first poster on the $10k+ price.

If you're not too terribly hairy on the rest of your body, I'd recommend giving the Tria a shot for those parts. It's time consuming, but it does seem to be working and it's only $500 to buy one. I've had hairs coming out just by grabbing them with my fingers after using it and I started using it about a month or two ago.

I'm not sure if you're talking about skin pigment or not. If you are talking about lack of skin pigment, They told me about that during my consultation. They said that can happen if you have too much sun exposure without sufficient protection. They said apply SPF-30 every hour you're in the sun.

wow I live in Lismore haha. yeah I wax my upper lip sometimes does it feel a bit like waxing? $10 000 is a lot of money but it's worth it if it's permanant

It feels like being waxed once or twice a second, if you want to compare it to waxing.

More accurately it feels like needles or sand grains being shot at high velocity at your face.

If you get laser removal, make sure you get numbing cream. It makes it much more tolerable. The price is negligible in comparison to the procedure. Don't get it and be prepared for pain.

One thing to remember if you do go with the numbing cream, which does help, it takes about 30 min for it to be affective so generally extra time is scheduled in to account for the applying of it. Something I learned early on when the laser hit my face that first time. Hugs

Also with some of them it is better if you wrap your face in clear wrap for a while.

Most OTC ones are 4% lidocaine or less. They work but you can find ones from compounding pharmacies that are more potent. I don't know if you need a prescription or not. I never did.

I get 5% lidocaine otc.

On my 3rd session yesterday, I did the Saran Wrap over my beard area and had someone drive and pick me up.

The wrap made the numbing last for the whole session, so it was much more potent than without.

I'm going to get a prescription for stronger lidocaine. There is no reason not to. In fact, I think it should just be normal protocol going forward.

Our skin becomes more sensitive after hormones. There is no need to suffer needlessly, imo.

I am from Florida and my best advice is to shop around, prices and quality are all over the map and high price does not always correlate to high quality. One local place wanted to charge me $12,000 for full body 6 sessions, yeah right!!! I found a place near Tampa, FL, (Brandon, FL actually) called Elan Medspa that is a 2hr drive each way from me, however they had a package for $995 for 6 treatments and they book me for a double length appointment times which is 3hrs to make sure they do a thorough treatment.

Is is painful yes especially at high energy levels, but Pain is so subjective too. The worst area for me is my face especially the chin and jawline and the EMLA type creams do not work well for me so I stopped using them. Unfortunate for me I have hair follicles with double and triple hair shafts in them i.e. the fluence level on most of my body has to be quite high. I do have a high tolerance for pain though. I am at 36-38 Joules on most areas and I think my last setting on the face was 30 only because that is the most painful for me(my eyes would actually tear), the rest of the body is a piece of cake compared to the face. The perianal area and Brazilian is a little sensitive, but not nearly as bad as you would expect. I have had good results so far: my underarms are nearly completely bare 95%, my face is about 60%, I do have some grey/white hairs that the laser will not get so I will use electro to get them, arms 70%, legs 65%, chest 60% and back is about 75%... I was a real Sasquatch so I am pretty happy with the results so far. I am looking to go more than the 6 sessions though to get as bare as possible. HRT will help with that too. I will be making my HRT consultation appointment on Monday 🙂
