So I got on hormones a couple months ago and it's got me seriously thinking about the next step in my transition, top surgery. I'm 27, but have the internet know how of a 90 year-old so searching for before and after (or just after) photos have been hard. Mostly because I don't have the funds to go to Dr. G or Dr. Crane, which flood any search. So I need to stay in my neck of the woods here in Ohio. I know we have Dr. Meladie in Cincinnati and I'm seriously considering him since that's close. I've also given thought to Dr. Rumer in Philly since that's not too too far out.

I'm hear asking if anyone could show me (or point me in the direction of) pictures of these doctors work. Or if you know of any others in Ohio or the immediately surrounding states (WV, IN, MI, KY, PA) and what their work looks like.
Also, how did they treat you during your appointments?

Going to Dr. Medalie for surgeries were be the best decisions I have made. Talented hands and great bedside manners. Although I believe he is located in Cleveland in stead of Cincinnati, unless he just relocated since I visited him a few weeks ago.
There are plenty of photo results in the "top surgery recovery" thread on top of this board, and also on transbucket.com

My vote would be Medalie since you are local. Despite initially wanting to go to Garramone when I started researching top surgery, I realized that I had an excellent surgeon near me and decided that the experience would likely be better for me if I didn't have to travel. I felt that I was much less stressed and overall had a more comfortable time preparing and healing than I likely would have if I had traveled. So don't get hung up on not being able to afford or want to travel to the other guys.

Medalie is an excellent surgeon and he has some great results. I know there are some post-op photos in the recovery thread, and there are several pages worth on transbucket as well.

I agree with the other guys... I felt very lucky to live here in Ohio so I could easily go to Dr. Medalie. He is in Cleveland and not Cincinnati. Like mentioned, hit up the recovery thread on here and transbucket for tons of photos.

As far as appointments with him, they were pretty easy. You should be aware that he is generally always scheduling for a couple months out. I went in person for my consult, it took maybe 20 min. He examined me, took photos, and explained why he thought I was suitable for DI. After the consult, you wait till his secretary calls you to schedule your surgery date. From my consult to scheduling phone call was a little over a month, and I scheduled surgery for about two months after the phone call. You get a packet on the mail a few weeks before surgery and you have to get a post-op binder. That's pretty much it until surgery day. I found Dr. Medalie very professional and knowledgeable. He's friendly and proficient. I am very glad I chose him to do my surgery. Good luck with whoever you choose to go with!

I think Dr. Medalie is actually a better choice than Dr Crane. I think Dr Crane is really a lower surgeon. His background is repairing flaws for cis boys, exactly the kind of background for lower surgery that you'd want. Some day I believe he will specialize in that. I don't think you are going to go wrong staying in Ohio for this. :)

I don't think Dr G is better, and I definitely don't think Dr Rumer is.

I agree with him being maybe  3-5 best surgeons for top surgery.

How is it you and I are always in agreement?  Definitely Medalie before Crane and Crane before Rumer ( although Rumer is a lovely woman).

Yea I actually contacted Cranes office for top surgery and was told my information was being reviewed for a consultation with Dr Satterwhite. So I don't know how many top surgeries Crane is actually even doing right now. If you have any interest in going with Medalie, contact him right away. My therapy letter took longer than expected (and honestly I started the process months later than I should have) so I just got it to Dr Medalies secretary on Tuesday. I'm waiting for Dr Medalie to sign off on it and then I will be contacted about scheduling. But from what I've been hearing from other guys going to him, there's a major waitlist so I might not get a date until at least August or September, and I'm not crazy about that wait. But I've wanted to go to Medalie for years based on his Peri/Keyhole results and know he's who I want to go to regardless.

Brett, I don't know. We're clones see. :)

I totally agree with your assessment of who I'd go to and in what order. I actually went to Dr G over Dr Medalie, due to NBR, as I couldn't think of anyone to go with me. As it turned out I had such an easy recovery someone could have had a nice vacation at my expense (and handing me things so I wouldn't have to raise my arms).

Okay as for Dr Crane, I don't think he IS doing too many top surgeries. I know of (but not personally) a few people who had top surgery with him lately and actually had it with someone else (Dr Satterwhite, as someone mentioned). I believe Crane is an Arizona boy and is moving back there. I imagine at some point he will do lower surgery. He is so darned popular for lower surgery I believe he is scheduled a year out. I believe that it was rare in the past to have lower surgery, so he couldn't really do only that. At least that's my pov on it.

Btw, saying nothing bad about Dr Crane. He is a super nice guy and a very top notch surgeon. Just he is SO good at lower surgery...
