My endo prescribed estradiol to be taken sublingually but I find that I salivate too much to keep it under my tongue for very long. Does anyone know of a way to make this easier or any alternatives to taking sublingually? Im open to any suggestions I would even try snorting it if i knew that would work lol.

I am on sublingual estradiol. You can just swallow it but it's effects are significantly stronger sublingually as it allows the estradiol to get directly into the body avoiding the digestive system.

I haven't really had this problem but I make sure I take a big sip of water right before hand and try and make sure I haven't eaten anything recently. Basically no flavors in my mouth, I also find I hold my tongue down very hard sometimes and if I am not careful I can end up making my jaw sore.

If a clear mouth doesn't help mabye try lots of saltines, but you do need some saliva to get things dissolving.
What is a Lie when it's at home? Anyone?
Is it the depressed little voice inside? Whispering in my ear? Telling me to give up?
Well I'm not giving up. Not for that part of me that hates myself. That part wants me to wither and die. not for you. Never for you.  --Loki: Agent of Asgard

Hi Paige,
I usually get the tablet(s) and crunch them slightly between my front teeth to break them into around four plus pieces each then I place them up in my top lip either side of that strip bit. It stays there. You can eat, talk drink and they don't get affected just dissolve away.
I usually take before I go to bed and dissolves overnight.

That was hard not to nominate they ,how many ,but I think I passed not mentioning dosages, please edit if needed.

Thanks for all the replies :) I'm hoping to switch to injections or implants next time I see my doctor but until then I'm going to try all the ideas you guys have given me.

P.S. It's called buccal when you put it anywhere else in your mouth but I hear that that is almost as effective as sublingual.

I put it to the back of my mouth. Less saliva there.

YOu can also switch brands. The Teva estradiol turns to grit quite easily but Estrofem does not.

Thank goodness I don't do pills (sublingual) anymore! I love my injections, so much more practical and effective.  ;D
I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

I really want to ask my endo about switching next time I'm in for a checkup.  The only thing is.......  needles.....  **shudder** :-\

Good tip on the breaking them up though Kristyn74!  I tried that when I read your post and that helps quite a bit.  Sometimes before it was like I wasn't getting through the "skin" of mine and it would basically turn into a mushy lump, which was kind of gross....  Then I'd just end up swallowing it lol...  That works MUCH better!

When I use to take pills I would just deal with the saliva and keep it in my mouth. I guess after a while I got use to it and the saliva stopped.

I took a vaccine booster more to test how I deal with needles. I didn't even feel it. I would be ok with injections, but i'm oral for now
