Gregory Abbink is the first openly transgender officer in the Austin, Texas, Police Department. After suppressing the issue for years, he decided, 'You know what, I can handle this now. I can deal with it.'

Wonderful story. Law enforcement tends to be hyper-macho so I'm always happy to hear the, so far, rare stories of officers transitioning with support.

I agree, though this Gregory guy's been a soldier and a corrections officer. Seems pretty hyper-macho himself.
