My name is Criss, I am 19, MtF, and pre-everything. I came out to my closest friend a few months ago, and then my other friends a month after that, and all of them have been nothing but loving and accepting. I came out to my parents, however, and they told me that I am too young to know what I am, so they do not support me transitioning. I hope to persuade them otherwise, because my insurance is under them and covers everything from the pills to the surgery, but I may have to fly solo if I can't.

I've been on a few trans communities such as the , but I wanted to check out this community as well. Definitely looking forward to meet some cool people

You might say at home you want counseling, for gender or for emotional reasons...
and pick someone who has, amongst others, gender on their list... not a getekeeper but a supportive person to help you along... if they are not supportive you might look for another...
if its connected with depression or emotional issues it might be covered.


They might help with explaining.


There might be a list of resources in your place on the forum.

Well hello hello! Welcome to Susan's!

You're never too young to know when it comes to this. Sure, at 19, most of us still haven't figured out what we want to do with the other aspects of our lives...but gender identity is something that's 100% ingrained in our genetics. At least, that's what I believe. I understand parental issues with this kinda thing...and I'm here to talk to if you ever find yourself needing someone.

Your parents will come around I'm sure, generally it turns to "not happy" but of course we'll always love you...

Probably top of the list of to do's is get in front of a therapist (Gender Therapist)... but understand that may take money. Are you working yet, part time etc? That may give you a start...

Funny story, I came out to my sociology professor in order to see if she could refer me to a colleague for gender therapy, and she got me set up with this wonderful woman who specializes about twenty minutes away from me, I just need my insurance card to pull the trigger. The great thing is, if my parents do not let me start within the next month or so, I can still go at a reduced rate by utilizing the interns(under the main therapist's supervision), and still get my letter for HRT after a few sessions.

My biggest roadblock right now is not my parents, but a lack of a car
