Hello everyone. I just wanted to say thank you to this website and to the people that i have had a chance to talk with on the chat room. I am in a hard place in my life right now with everything and I am glad that I can talk with some people that understand where I am coming from.

It has only been a year since I found out that I am transgender, and its only been a few weeks since I came out to my wife. My wife had been really supportive and kept telling me that she would always be with me. However recently she has told me that there is no way she could live with me being a woman. Which needless to say caught me off guard and we have already discussed what we are going to do once we seperate. We have been married for close to 9 years and we have a child who is three years old.

The icing on top is that I can't even start to transition until I am out of the military which i still have two and a half years left. So thats about it right now, but thank you guys so much I have already felt support from the community on this site.

Hi EmmaLynn, welcome to Susan's. As people process things more you tend to get their true reaction. Sorry that her reaction changed for the worse. I look forward to seeing you around the site. Good Luck and hugs

Hi Emma, there are plenty of people who have served or are serving in the military here so we can feel where you are coming from there. As for your wife, time will tell. Initial reactions don't always end up as a final feeling. Things change and people change. I hope to see you around the forum as you progress through this transition.

Welcome to Susans :)

Sorry to hear that you and your wife are having problems, especially since you have a child.  Thank you for your service;  2 1/2 years may seem far away, especially since you can't start your transition until then, but it will pass, and then you will be so short that you can sit on a dime and dangle your legs over the edge ;)  I wish you the best...

Welcome. I am glad you found us too.

i know that waiting that long to get out of the military seems a long time, but on the other hand, won't you get VA benefits? If so, those will help.

In the meantime, thank you for serving our country. Expecially in the political climate we are in now.

Hi Emma,

Welcome to Susan's, so happy that you have found us... you are amongst friends that are and have been in similar places... Coming out to your wife is such a hard thing to do, I admire and feel for you re-results. When I do that in a short while, I'll almost certainly get the same response.
The 2.5 years will go pretty fast, after all you have a goal now.

I wish you well and good luck, and certainly hope to see you about the forums.

Thanks for finding us  :-*
