I agree. I am not out yet so I didn't mind that unshaveable stubble after the first session last month, but after this session, I am just waiting for that weird pattern on my face to disappear. Having patches of such stubble is far worse.. it gets noticed much more  :-\

2-3 weeks you'll be in heaven, trust me. Right now all mine shedded off and regrowth is much, much finer. My face is so smooth even after 2-3 days not shaving. I'm going to get another session in a couple of weeks.

Hmmm,
My face is not smooth 2-3 days after shaving. It's like sandpaper and the white hairs are out. The black ones are there, just not as prominent. It's like the same hair is there , it just grows back slower.

I had 5 sessions.

This pic is me after I shaved yesterday....

You have white hairs. I don't really have any.

From what I'm piecing together here, skin tone and hair color play a major role in how effective Laser removal is.  Also that is is a good idea to start facial hair removal before starting HRT treatments.

The question I have is, although I have very light skin, I also have very light hair (strawberry blonde).  Is laser even an option for me?  Should I just go electrolysis?

Thanks,

Samantha MQ

Dark hair is a must for laser. Electro is your best bet in that case. Hugs

I'm a bit confused about hair removal and things to do with that. I would like to get hair removal done on my face and maybe upper body (figure I can deal with my legs just about) but I don't know the difference between laser and electrolysis and I don't know how likely I am to be able to find a dermatologist/hair removal place/laserist/hair removalist person thing local to me, or to be able to afford it. I thought posting here might be better than starting my own thread; can anyone help point me in the right direction?

It might help if we had an idea where you are like what state. Secondly, laser targets areas and electro hits each one separately. Laser is for dark hair and electro can handle all. Laser is cheaper than electro because it hits multiple hairs at once, but both are expensive and time consuming. Hugs

I have my 6th Laser session on July 1st. After that I will switch to Electrolysis. Starting that slow as it will cost more.

Thanks Mariah. I'm in central Queensland, Australia. One of my main worries is we are in a reasonably small town although still a local centre. I've heard it's best to start sooner rather than later so want to start ASAP, but on the other hand we are moving hopefully in the next few months to a state capital, so I think I might have better options there. But also so sick of waiting.

I can totally relate to the waiting thing. I'm not found of it either. As far resources in that part of Australia I'm sure someone from Australia will be able to help on that part of your question. Hugs

Thanks. One thing I am confused about is I am a redhead and my facial hair is the same colour so wasn't sure which I could use.

I would think it wouldn't be dark enough, but they would have to look at o be sure. Secondly the shade of red comes into play so it's possible that laser might be an option but I'm thinking your electro bound. Hugs

Red hair sadly usually means electrolysis. I had mostly dark hairs, but also a few bronze patches, which were nightmare to remove. Laser didn't do anything for bronze hair until power could be set high enough, this was 9-10 sessions in. It burned the hair, but didn't do any harm to the follicle. Now at 13 sessions in, at max, it deals with bronze hair... blondish hair happily waits for electrolysis.

I've had 2 sessions and noticed it takes about 2 weeks for all the dead hair to fall out. However that's also when the next batch starts to grow. It looks 10x better, but I still have to shave daily. Fortunately I don't have a lot of white hairs, but there are certainly some there.

You can risk a few hours and take a twezzers and pick out all the loose hair one by one. Most usually become loose at 4-6 days after, and that means you will have almost hair-free face for until the next growth cycle starts to come out (except for light color hairs...).

I've done that a little bit. Its too much of a pain in the butt to spend any real time on it though. Fortunately with this next batch there isn't a lot left. So this next session should be a piece of cake.

After my 6th and last Laser session on July 1st, for the package I paid for I am trying to decide if I should just start on Electro next?

The whites are there and I'm not sure if I should get 6 more Laser sessions or just start Electro (More expensive).

I've got my first proper session tomorrow!! Although I've had the initial consultation and test patch done already. It's an Alexandrite laser - luckily we're cosmetic crazy in the South East (of England) thus it was easy for me to find the right place. Avoid IPL on the face - it costs the same and doesn't really work. Anyway I'm fortunate enough to have white skin and dark brown/black hair; therefore the thing should be quite effective. Actually it IS quite effective as I'm still shedding hairs from the tiny test area.

Something to try, if you don't have time to tweeze afterwards: Get a cotton flannel or towel, wet it and drag over the treated areas. It pulls the loose hairs out! Then moisturise afterwards.

After my 6th, I'm moving to my legs. I plan on getting everything done eventually. I'll probably need electro as well, but I already look a ton better. I noticed my next batch of beard hair is growing in and there isn't much left. I think 6 times should do it, but we'll see. I have no idea how much of my body will be subjected to electro, but all of it will be lasered.
