Alright newbie here.
What is the best way to grow out hair? I have always kept it short but now is the time to let it fly  :P

Vitamins and time or just time?

Vitamins can help a bit I think. If you are not healthy then your hair isn't gonna be healthy either. Don't get it cut/trimmed too often and when you do just get the ends trimmed. Mostly, it does just take time, time, more time, forever time...

Has anyone tried Pantogar?  Someone told me it's a supplement like biotin, but it's better.  I looked it up online and it seems legit, mostly positive reviews.  I was curious if anyone tried it.

IMO, time and proper hair care / periodic trims.

The FDA has basically concluded that for adults with a reasonable diet and no special health circumstances (pregnancy, e.g.), vitamins are not beneficial. As long as you have adequate supplies of the vitamins your body needs, having more will not necessarily do anything more. Vegetarians or vegans may need supplements as well.

So if you're on a budget, I'd save the money on the vitamins and invest it in high quality hair care products.

This. 100%

1. On average, hair grows 1/2 a month for 6 inches a year. But it does not grow uniformly and also is uneven when you start with short hair (which makes sense when you think about where you want it to end up).  Hair care includes finding a stylist who understands how to trim your hair as it grows to even it out.  Once the hair at the top of your head reaching the length with that growing at the nape of your neck (or if you are taking a layered approach, in which it's smoothed), their trimming changes. Just about any salon can help you with this as women cut back and later let grow their hair all the time. The issue the first months to a year is making it look presentable, especially if you have curly hair which frizzes like Der Struwwelpeter if left to its own devices.

2. Product.

3. Product.

I have been trying to grow mine back out, as well. I had long, long hair until I decided that I wanted to be platinum blonde and bleached it. Due to breakage I had to cut it off....and I miss it. I have been taking Collagen supplements (with added Biotin) in hopes it will work. Its slowly, slowly growing back...but I sure do miss it. However, I can't go back to brunette after tasting 'the blonde life' lol. Transformed my entire look. It's also pretty disheartening that every man feels the need to tell me how much sexier long hair is....

Try eating more garlic and onions, I believe that is the combo that is supposed to help your hair grow faster. It won't speed it up much but it is supposed to speed hair growth some. Just make sure to have lots of breath mints.

I did a search and it seems like I might have been mistaken about the onion and garlic. Salmon, green veggies, chicken, egg yolks, almonds lentils seem to be the better choice. But hey I would think that garlic and onions wouldn't hurt.

So, whilst we're on the subject of hair. I heard reguler trims help with groth. Just wondered how often one should idealy go for trims? (Hasn't had any cut in 3 years)

Sort of what your doing is getting rid of the split ends so it can grow. I get mine tidied every two three months and that's really all she does. Takes off the split ends if any, and reinforce the layers. It's getting longer

If you want to grow your hair make sure your hair and scalp are well conditioned.

A simple way to give your head and hair a treat:
Shower cap
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp olive oil
a dollop of your fave conditioner

Make sure you have already washed your hair.
Mix the olive oil and honey first and then the conditioner.
Apply it to your hair and put a shower cap on, leave it for 30 mins (or as long as you like lol).
Wash it out.
Your scalp will be well nourished and your hair will be shiner.

Make sure you are eating healthily and your hair should keep growing, just look after your hair by having a trim every once in a while. Some people think they can grow out their hair and have it all healthy without giving it a small trim but trimming your hair can encourage growth and keep your hair tidy at the ends. Split ends are a nightmare!

I hope this helped a little. ^^

Ideally you should get your hair trimmed every 3 months, if not then you can stretch it to 4 months. If you are super busy then every 6 months is fine too.

It'll keep frizzy ends and split ends at bay and your hair will thank you for it.

Kinda different question but....I don't know how to have haircuts so that my hair doesn't look so bad until it grows...
My hair on the front is long enough to cover half my nose but hair on the back of the neck is slightly longer. Should I cut the hair on the back of the neck until the rest of the hair is of the same length?

Forgot to add my back is (unfortunately) hairy too. So what should I do?

Please tell me. My mother says my hair looks too ugly and I should cut it both on the back and on the front (Sorry for my English).

Go to a salon and work with a stylist.  Your issues are no different than any cis woman in the same situation. The stylist can give you some options.
