Hey guys so I wana move and have some options but can anyone tell me which would be most suited for me. I need a place big, hopefully not huge huge, lgbt friendly, decent work, decent night life and cheap food and rent. My thoughts where Kingston Ontario, Moncton New Brunswick, Winnipeg Manitoba, Edmonton Alberta and that's it so far. Thanks :)!

Montreal !!! Ok, I might be a little biased ... I have family in Edmonton and it's definitely a cool city. Kingston has one of the nicest university in Canada, Queen's. Moncton, well people I know from there have left. Winnipeg, way too cold in winter !!!

My opinions of course ! Good luck in your move !

Thanks :) I love the province of Quebec... But growing up most of my life in British Columbia before moving to Ontario,I never really learned nor needed to speak French.... How good in Montreal with someone who know no French (but really wants to learn!!)

Isnt Vancouver super expensive?

Seeing as you mentioned BC I think there is a town near revelstoke that is transfriendly don't quote me on that though. Might have been revelstoke not sure I do know that BC itself seems more friendly/liberal minded. From alberta myself and my guess Calgary seems more on the transfriendly side but so too does Edmonton in different ways I am sure. Sorry not a lot of help but tbh live in small town so don't know much either.

I my opinions hurt anyone it is NOT my intent.  I try to look at things in a neutral manner but we are all biased to a degree.  If I ever post anything wrong PLEASE correct me!  Human after all.

I have a friend who lives in the vicinity of Vancouver. She says the area is very trans friendly. I'm actually thinking of moving there myself, if the job and HRT don't mix well here.

I am leaning towards Edmonton for grad school, but I'm coming from America.

I do miss BC like a no good. Amazing province! However it is expensive all over I heard :(. I know Alberta is a bit pricey but with the money and jobs their I would have much more disposable income.... Plus I like the Alberta picture life where it even in the city it is country, and yet everyone is open minded! Can anyone tell me about Edmonton particularly .... My other next choice options are Winnipeg or Kingston... Maybe even Ottawa! Thank you everyone for the input :)

I lived in the greater region of Ottawa for 31 years. It's nice and quiet with beautiful parks all around. Superb if you like the outdoors.  And if you can secure a job with the government than things are quite smooth. But to be honest, the region is a little boring if you're looking for some nightlife and cultural events. I now live in the suburb of Montreal and work downtown. Montreal is a pretty cool city and whiteout the family, we could definitely have afforded the island itself. Depending on your area of expertise, you can find jobs even if your mastery of French is poor. But learning French is definitely an asset on the long run.

My expertises are limited. Only worked in kitchens and want out badly of that! Still, what is the island like?

Also, how is Quebecs trans health system?
  •

martine

It's probable that some amongst us have more experience on this. I've heard from others in support groups that their are few doctors who will accept to prescribe hormones in our beautiful province unfortunately. I was lucky to have my family physician from Ottawa be familiar with our difficulties and be totally opened to inform consent.

Looks like Naniamo !! Got contact with someone :)!! Happier now.. No more cold winters :D!

Yey Nanaimo! The island is a great place to be. Nanaimo is a great size of city, having most of what a person needs, and is close to both Vancouver and Victoria!

However, I have found it may not be as possible or easy anymore :/.... My chances are better in Manitoba or New Brunswick now

Metanoia

Why not Thunder Bay, eh?

Although, if I had a choice of living somewhere in Canada, Quebec City was one of the prettiest towns I've been to. NB is pretty too. Especially on the eastern coast.

I love the Newfie accent, but I've never been there either. One day.

Lunenberg, Nova Scotia is quite pretty as well... Oh, Canada... Exporting America's funniest comedians and best actors since the 1950s...
