I changed my name legally 4 years ago and do not like it anymore.  I thought it was a masculine sounding name but an ex-gf of mine told me people were wondering why i would pick a girly sounding name if im transitioning to male and i did a poll on facebook in a trans group and almost everyone thought it was a female name except 2 guys from Europe....in Europe its a male name but in the USA people think its a female name

anyways i know another guy who decided he was unhappy with his name he originally chose and said he's been trying for years now to change it legally a 2nd time and keeps having problems.....he has to get a lawyer

has anyone heard or knows a way to get your name changed a 2nd time without having to jump through hoops or hire a lawyer?  Does it go by a state by state basis?  are some states easier?  anyone know resources to help me?
I wasn't holding it open for you, who holds the door open for a man?!?

Well I thought it was a nice gesture....BUT I GUESS I WAS WRONG!!!!!

I don't really know because I did the common usage approach and the only thing that's not up to date is my birth certificate. It may be more complicated now but I didn't get my first credit card until after I transitioned so even my credit report makes no mention of my old name.

Same steps as for the original name change. Yes, you can do it.

I don't see why it'd be a problem; I'm sure there's some guy that's changed his name to Batman or something and changed it back out of regret. If you don't like your name, you're legally free to change it again. Honestly I don't think I strongly associate Aleksi with one gender or the other, but it sounds like a masculine European name if anything, like you said. Your choice, though!

Thanks everyone.  Yeah i dont understand how it could be a problem....but also dont understand why a friend of mine is having so much trouble changing his for a second time.  Maybe its the state he lives in has some weird rule.

Second time probably won't be a problem but they might start to scrutinise you more should you keep on doing it every few years. Some of it may depend on local state laws too.

Why not just go by Alek?  That's a masculine name.  I love that name (I know the usual spelling is Alec, but you could just tell everyone you spell it differently).

The only person I know with the name Aleksi is another FTM.  I wonder if people think Aleksi is too close to Alexa, which is a girl's name.

wheat thins are delicious

Why would it be impossible?  As long as you aren't changing it for illegal reasons and you have the money, you can do pretty much anything you want.

i didnt think it would be a problem either....til a facebook friend of mine says he is having so much trouble with it he has to get a lawyer

as long as u are not a criminal changing it to escape persecution i think u should be allowed to change it as many times as u want as long as u appear in court, have your documents and pay for it

Bimmer i hate the name Alek....Aleks is ok (sounded out just like Alex)  but dr. garramone's office kept calling me "Alek" and it annoyed the crap out of me lol

im just really set on the name Jason....i was thinking about keeping aleksi as a middle name....would prefer "aleksander"....but dont want to be associated with the short fat bald actor from seinfeld "jason alexander"....also not sure about those because my initials would be "JAW"
