After about 10 months of gender transition I finally made it to home stretch!! today marked the first day of being being officially out as Michelle at work, and marks my first day of being full time! Everyone at my job basically knew the situation when i wrote a coming out post on FB, but i requested an official communication be sent regarding my name/change and pronoun usage. I received a new ID badge, and had my email updated. I did have some complications with HR regarding my communication plan, but we cleared it up at the 11th hour and now I'm free!.

I'm so happy to have had overwhelming support from my co-workers and managers. However i have learned quickly the people that I will need to avoid. Some people are just not comfortable with me and that is fine. And i wanted to give the forum a huge thanks and many hugs for everything. This community has been a tremendous help in moving me along in my transition. Everything from emotional support, to practical advice, I couldn't have made it to this point without Susan's Place.

That's wonderful Michelle! Congratulations!

Hopefully the uncomfortable people will come around.  I had a few people at work that talked with me a lot before coming out, and little to no talking after, but they've mostly come around since.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

Michelle,

That is so great!

There will always be people who are not comfortable. I have found that to be true all my life.

You have found your truth.

I hope it goes smoothly from here on out.

With warm thoughts,

Does it count as support if I say I'm jealous?  There's a lot of joy coming through your post and I'm thrilled you cleared such a big milestone so nicely.
When in doubt, ignore the moral judgments of anybody who engages in cannibalism.

That is fantastic.  I too just recently began living full time and much like you I have had very positive responses from most people and the the few who are having a problem, I have no problem identifying who they are.  They make it very easy for you to tell they are having a bit of a time with it all.  Power through it all because there is nothing like getting to live as your authentic self!

Hugs to you girl.  Enjoy your new life!!

Congrats Michelle. I remember when I came out, the electric excitement of finally being myself.

Remember, it isn't your job to stay out of everyone's way who disapproves. It's their job to deal. Your employer has a legal responsibility to make your workplace a non-hostile environment.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

Well done Michelle I hope You have the same feeling of relief and relaxation that I had when I was finally able to be Myself at Work. Yes you will occasionally find Yourself Misgendered but in most cases it is not deliberate or a snub but merely familiarity and forgetfulness they speak before thinking in other words . Just gently remind them and carry on LOL

Hugs Toni
The girl inside is just as important expecially to Yourself :)

I hope your experiences are as good as mine. There is nothing like knowing you never have to hide again. I've mostly had a very positive experience overall with extremely few and minor negative experiences.

thanks ladies! day two was great. When i came into work this morning, there was a big gift bag on my desk!. A huge part of the office ended up chipping in and buying me a Coach bag, and a bunch of lotions and hand creams from Bath & Bodyworks. It was so thoughtfully and sweet. i totally felt the love! I couldn't have asked for a better transition! i'm so greatful!

people are being great about new name and pronouns. A few of the guys are accidentallystill  giving me the "Hey Man" routine in passing, and i of course have to yell at them in a joking way. But they are very sweet about it, and apologize for doing it lol.
