The subject words were spoken by the character Paul "Muad Dib" Atriedes.

It's one of my favorites.  It's also very true.  Our fundamentalist terrorists (both from the Islamic and Christian factions) control our economy for example.  Look how far we've gone into debt in the name of fighting terror.

You know, it's funny..... Bin Laden has stated that this is his goal, to destroy our economy by putting us into crippling debt... and we keep flushing untold amounts of money at pin pricks on the other side of the world... yes, he has control of that thing, or a part of it at least.  The other controling faction feeds his financial war by flushing our economic toilet.

And yet, many of us transition knowing that it may destroy us.

"You found something else. In that cell, you found something that mattered more to you than life because when they threatened to kill you unless you gave them what they wanted, you told them you'd rather die. You faced your death, Evey. You were calm. You were still. Try to feel now what you felt then." ~ V for Vendetta

The corollary to the subject statement (quote, whatever...) is that if you  can't destroy it, you don't control it.
