I saw a PBS Frontline on growing up transgender.The documentary was done in a respectful and non-sensational way, and shared the stories of several transgender children and teenagers and their families. They were able to explain a lot of things about being trans in a way that people who don't really any trans people would understand. this is something tthat could really help a lot of people understand us a little better. Then again, the people who really, really need to understand us better, probably don't want to understand us, and probably do not watch much PBS..

We had a short news story in one of our popular current affair programs the other day here (Monday I think) where they have been tracking some young transgender kids... from about 4 yo till currently where they are around 7 or 8 I think...
The report was on Australian TV in prime time - 6:30pm to 7:30pm on a free to air station.

I would love to be a fly on the wall across the general public homes to hear the reactions and comments. But, whilst support is growing, the hardliners still scream and shout, and sadly its more older generation based or inspired. I would suggest most of the young, unless from a really hardnosed family, couldn't careless, a friend or colleague is still the same person, regardless of chosen gender, which came through in the report!

What also amazes me is the uptake of the pride transparencies being displayed here on social forums... really heart warming!

I just watched this on my streaming service.

I couldn't stand watching the two fathers who consistently misgendered their sons. One of them kept saying "this is just my opinion..." oblivious to the fact that his "opinion" was destroying the wonderful boy he had been blessed with. I nearly threw something at my TV screen.

How could people bear to watch that?

  I saw the stream. I believe the show was well done. Dads, they're the least accommodating. Give them time.
