Jerry Seinfeld Just Made His Worst Joke Yet — And It's About Trans People

Jerry Seinfeld is no fan of political correctness, but a new joke of his will surely land him in hot water with the people who do care.

I refuse to be outraged by this. I mean, yes, the jokes are pretty pathetic but they're hardly transphobic.

Not really offensive to me, but definitely stupid, no real humor there. I think Jerry's best years are far behind him at this point.

Oh, please! Transgender is kind of a funny word, and it sounds a bit like an airline. Still not a very good joke, but...

I think Colbert ignored it because the moment he heard the word "transgender" he assumed whatever was said would be taken as transphobic. By cis people. Personally I'm more concerned with people being idiotic hateful pigs than with them being politically incorrect.

And about that first joke, I played it several times and I still can't catch what Colbert said just before, but it was something about his son.

What bothered me the most about the video was the ostentation, that's probably my Swedish upbringing.
Life is a dream we wake from.

No, I agree, no outrage.

But how can we expect people to take us seriously as human beings if our lives are funny just because we're being ourselves?

I'm really sick of being the butt of everyone's jokes.

Seinfeld's attempts at humour reveal his ignorance about what it's like to be transgender, that as a cis person he probably believes being trans is a choice and a lifestyle, that he doesn't take trans people seriously...

Meh...Whatever...I'm at a point where I just don't care about this crap. Sure, if I actually met Jerry Seinfeld in person (which would never happen..but, whatever), I would tell him: "Dude, that was really stupid."

But, I'm not losing any sleep over this.

The jokes aren't really any different than what I would have said in a corny mood.  None of that was offensive and was just a play on the word "transgender" which does sound like an airline that gives you mid-air SRS service.

If the community starts getting angry over things like this, nobody will take us seriously when it counts.

Yeah, Jerry is still okay in my book. Its more a deconstruction of the word, its not an insult to me. Deconstructing words is kind of his thing, "...and why do they call it [insert any word] anyway?!"

Good grief, how about they go see Don Rickles. Now HE is a walking insult-joke machine.

*Shrugs.* I was never a big fan of his humor to begin with, and this seems rather typical of his style. Not offended though.

I think the annoying thing about this sort of joke is that it normalizes ignorance and insensitivity.  It sends the signal that it's okay to ignore the issue.  "Holocaust?  I don't even know what that means!  Is that..."  Yeah, not going to find a punchline for that.
