My best friend is a cis straight man.
We used to live close but not anymore. Yesterday I wrote him a message to let him know. A short one.

He is currently on medications for depression. I didn't want to tell him until he is off them, but that state lasts for I dunno... a long time. So I told him despite my intent to wait, I feel like we could both benefit from having one secret less.

Then just a single line surrounded by space: I want to continue my life as a woman.

I told him I like it, and that I already did some changes on myself, but there is so much more work to do until a normal life.

Further I explained him about another FB profile and about my mom. Asked him to keep this between us. He can't harm me by spreading it, but can harm her.

At the end, because 'many people know me as a man machine', I attached one picture of mine.
Told him I take lots of selfies. :D

He came out as supportive and understanding. Looks like things are same between us for the time being. :D

Congrats! A step forward is a step forward.

I'll bet it was an immense relief getting that secret gone and getting his support.

Hi. And thanks.

He is a man on heavy medication, so sure I wouldn't impose my own stuff on him. But I find happiness in fact he knows and accepts.

Another gay friend told me today it will take time getting used to the old me being gone.
