I am looking for help and advice from anyone who has changed their name and gender marker on their Canadian birth certificate.  Particularly if you were able to do it in one of the Provinces that require SRS letter and another verifying doctor.

My situation is that, I have been living in the US for many years now, and I have recently had court order for name and gender change, plus I have updated my drivers license, SSN, banks, and US passport (I am a dual citizen).

Ultimately, I would like to update my Canadian passport, but it seems the only way to do that is updating your birth certificate first.  I know that maybe I could do a two year passport, but I was told that you could not renew it, which is a concern because having GCS complete in the next two years is very iffy for me.

Has anyone been successfully with changing their Canadian birth certificate, with just using the US court order, US passport, or license as proof?

The one good thing for me is that I can travel with the US passport, it is only if I had to move back, when it would become a critical issue.

Hey! I am also a Canadian living in America. I was born in Ontario (where the laws are a bit more flexible for name change stuff) so I don't know how it will be specifically for you.

I was able to change my Canadian birth certificate using the U.S. court order. I believe I also sent in a copy of my license and SS card with the updated name and gender.

The whole process took about 5 months, and I was in a rush because I needed to update my passport before graduating college. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions!
