Hi... I am truly appreciative of these detailed accounts that so many have provided.. One common thread seems to be "bring your own pain meds".. I would think that transporting any CII pain meds from the US would be problematic.. Any experiences or perspectives on this would be greatly appreciated.

With a valid prescription, transporting meds between countries is not a problem.

I think you got a good result, although a question for you... You mentioned your forehead didn't seem as flat as you would like? Do you think there is a chance that he didn't actually perform the type III? Usually with type III there should be no brow bossing protruding although there could be some swelling. I had type I and I could tell immediately that it wasn't enough. After the swelling went down I could see that one half of my forehead looked fine, and the other half it looks like he didn't remove the bossing. Honestly in my case although an improvement, there is still visible uneveness and bossing a year later. I will need a revision... just not sure that I will go back to Dr. C for it though. My trust has definitely waned... Look forward to seeing your profile photos post-op if you're so inclined. Hope your healing is going well. -J

Jgirl76 -- it was a type 3 to the best of my knowledge. It seems unlikely that he lied to me, since he never argued with me about it. In the consult the day before my surgery, he explained to me how he would perform the type 3.

As far as the result, I am only 3 weeks out of surgery, and I am not sure how much swelling will resolve, but from the profile, it seems pretty clear that the area between my nose and forehead still has a bit of a curve to it. The Virtual FFS result certainly looked a lot better than what I have right now. But I again will stress that I do not want to make any judgments prematurely.

I do not plan on posting any pictures until 6 weeks post-op (so around august 15-30). They will be taken exactly the same as the pre-op photos, front, partial, and profile with hair combed back.

That being said, since you had type 1, there is an agreement among most surgeons that type 1 does not give the best result for brow bossing removal, and usually bone cement is used to disguise it.

While I do like Dr. C, if I were in your position, I would choose a craniofacial surgeon, as they have specialized training and perform it more routinely. If you had someone mess up your nose job, you would go to a nose specialist - same concept. I hope that was helpful. Sorry about your need of a revision.

I figured I would update with a few pictures since I am actually looking pretty cute right now. I want to save the before/afters until after the swelling in my nose goes down so that I can actually have a good comparison, but in the meantime, here is a small timeline from about 2 to 4 weeks post-op.

My thoughts one month post-op:

The rhinoplasty obviously went well. Despite there being a lot of swelling, it looks far superior to its previous incarnation. It is perfectly straight and the bump in my nose from before is completely gone. The result is that my nose looks a lot more attractive. I actually am pleasantly surprised, because it was such a small bump that I didn't think it would have such a large effect on my appearance.

My chin was vastly improved - better results than I was expecting, actually. I rarely smiled in pictures before, because I felt like it made my chin look quite large and masculine. I'm quite happy with the new shape, as I can smile and still have a chin that looks perfectly feminine.

My lips are a wonderful canvas for lipstick now. I hope I don't lose too much of the fat in the coming months. Now that the swelling has come down I really like how big they are -- the top one feels like it is now quite even in size with the bottom which looks nice and symmetrical.

Forehead. The good: My eyes look more open now and makeup is far easier to apply. Before I had hooded eyes. Now, when I apply makeup, I can see the crease, and also I can do winged eyeliner much more easily. I am looking forward to doing more makeup now because applying eye makeup is way easier and it looks way better when I do it! The wrinkles in my forehead are now gone, giving the appearance of a perfectly smooth forehead.

Slightly disappointing: My forehead was not set back quite as much as I would have liked given that I had a type 3 procedure. That being said, it is quite obviously improved quite a bit, and I don't really regret my choice in surgery. My hairline was also not moved forward enough to sufficiently counter my hairloss. Dr. C told me before the surgey that I would still need a hair transplant, but it is a bit disappointing all the same. I wonder if the cost of a scar was really worth it if I have to get a transplant anyways, but oh well, what is done is done. Hopefully the scar will heal well.

Overall impressions: I'm pretty happy. I look cute and expect to look better over the coming months as the swelling in my nose and chin goes down.
