Well I figured I would share my experience.
We did not go through transop and recovery house... Decided to do the recovery ourself as we were vacationing before the operation.
Arrived in guadalajara met with Dr. Cardenas. He explained where my incisions were going to be. He Didnt hesitate to do any of the surgeries I wanted..... which I was expecting him to do as I wanted a facelift and I'm technically to young for one... But I wanted it and got it. I guess that's a bonus on my side...yay.
All opinions are my own (keep in mind)
Guadalajara is dirty and disgusting... We will never go back. The hospital however is amazingly clean. The cleaning Crew work 24/7 and I never even seen anything dirty while I was there. Bathrooms were so clean you could eat off the floor. Operating room was immaculate.
A little difficult with not as much bilingual staff but it worked out okay.
Here are my tips if anyone is going:
* have lots of toilet paper around u... I used lots for wounds, cleanup ( vomiting after anesthesia), hot flashes etc.
*have a large bucket.... After coming out of anesthesia I vomited so much their little bed pan they give you did nothing for me... It was on the floor, of the bed table, the IV stand, the hospital bed, all over me. And this happened several times.... So be prepared and request or bring a larger bucket. I eventually gave her her little pan back and brought the bathroom garbage can into bed with me lol.
*bring your own pain meds. Everyone always says this and I thought I would just take what he gives.... They suck, lol bring ur own!!
*bring a fine tooth comb.... After the surgery and showering it's so hard to get the dried blood out of your hair.... It's everywhere. Thank God I had a comb!
*when you have to go grab prescriptions it's different process... We had to run from the hospital to pharmacy 4 times before we got it right.. I really don't think Cardenas has the system down yet cause it was awful. Remember... You need 2 copies of the prescription both need header docter information and signatures... The pharmacy needs to keep a copy before they give u the pills.... Such a gong show.
*our phones did not work in Mexico.... For the love of God.... Get a GPS or make sure ur phone is working haha.
*have a bunch of movies downloaded before you arrive... Hotels have WiFi but it's sooooo slow and constantly shuts off.... Easier to just have it ready to go.
*ask for loota of pillows.... You need them,
And my ultimate #1 thing I got that was a dream come true.... Sleeping pills. It is to hard to sleep upright and face all screwed up... I spent a few night just staring at the clock for sooooo long. Once I got my prescription for sleeping pills...
My entire trip got incredibly better lol.
One more thing.... Gisela was very helpful but don't rely on her... She kept saying she would give me a time for a second appointment.... I constantly asked and she blew it off... Finally I called the emergency line and doc said if she hasn't gotten back just to show up at the Hospital at 8am and they would see me. Good thing... If I woulda waited for her to give me a time It would've screwed everything up. Don't hesitate on anything.... If u need to know call hospital... I must have phoned them 20/30 times
Make a trip to a store before surgery. We even bought a tiny coffee pot and used it 24/7 for tea, coffee, we made Mac and cheese in it, hot dogs, soup, noodles..... Everything lol. The hotel had room service... But only when the kitchen decided they were gonna open.... And this was a 4 star hotel btw lol.
Overall wasn't bad.... First couple days were rough as to be expected. But just be prepared with everything else.
