The plan, which includes a proposal for gender-neutral restrooms in city buildings, comes in response to an uptick in hate crimes.

Seattle Mayor Ed Murray has proposed a plan to make the city safer for LGBT people, with steps including enhanced services for LGBT youth, a law making all single restrooms in city buildings gender-neutral, and a public education campaign.

Unfortunately as LGBTQ rights advance, more marginalized people are going to lash out - as in a blog I saw by a Baptist pastor saying Thank You to the LGBTQ Community and their advances for making him more anti-gay. The old saying applies, "two steps forward, one step back."

I'm not thrilled about the idea of having special restrooms for us to use so we can be safe. Separate restrooms is exclusionary. We should be able to use the same restrooms as anyone else.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

I agree. I also generally avoid unisex restrooms as they tend to be nasty because men stand up and pee there.
