Most people tell me it sounds femme, some people say it sounds gender ambiguous but leaning femme. I think that is good for 1 month. Month 2 should be a lot better. The lower ranges are pretty much gone. I can't even attempt it because air just comes out. I'd imagine Dr Haben would be similar for the glottoplasty part. Not sure about the CTA.
Quote from: Katie on July 24, 2015, 09:30:27 AMThe office is on the other side of the town from where the hotel and the hospital are. With that said a trick I found is the hotel will take you to the airport (and pick you up as well as many times as you wish). From the airport you take a cab for 20 dollars to his office. You only need do this on Tuesday and then once on Thursday for the trip back to the airport. All other transportation is provided. You DONT NEED A RENTAL CAR since the hotel has many things nearby. OH we flew out at 5:30 yesterday (hours after last appointment was finished). The hotel was very kind to pick us up at the airport and take us to the mall for the hours we had to wait before flying out. Then then took us back to the airport for the flight out.You do need a caregiver or you will have to pay for a room at the hospital. The caregiver has to be at the hospital for the surgery on Wednesday.Since I cannot talk I cannot offer any opinion about what the results are except that I did by accident talk a short bit and it definitely sounded pleasing. Mind you I never did mind how my voice sounded in my ears BUT if I recorded it I could definitely hear the difference that I didn't like. Years ago after the yucky and just plain miserable recovery from FFS I swore I would never get any more surgery. I guess I was wrong. This one is a breeze of a recovery compared to the others.
Quote from: Katie on July 26, 2015, 06:40:52 PMIts been for days since I had surgery. I feel nearly normal with nothing more than a tight feeling in my throat. With that said I cannot begin to say how impossible it is to prepare for not talking. I Feel pretty dam isolated and I can do nothing about it but carry around paper and smile as I write to communicate with people.Think I said this before but the recovery from this surgery is NOTHING compared to SRS and the worse of all FFS.Katie
Quote from: ainsley on July 24, 2015, 09:22:42 AMGlad you are home and healing, Katie. A month is a long time. I smoked for 17 years, but quit 16 years ago. I hope I have not damaged it to where I will be limited to one month. Was the office hard to find, or get to? Parking an issue? I am seeing him in one month for a consult on the triple, so any info you can keep dumping in this thread is appreciated. I cannot do the voice surgery until next spring because GCS is next month for me, and Dr. Haben wants about 6 months of time to pass from that before he will do my vfs.
Quote from: Cadence Jean on July 31, 2015, 05:17:06 PMGlad you're doing well, Katie! Bummer about the one month. He gave me the standard one week, and then light use over the next three weeks. After about six weeks, I'm feeling really good, a lot of the graveliness is gone. It's incredible that this surgery is offered now - a workable VFS! I never hoped that I'd have a feminine voice when I started transition, and now I do! XD Best wishes on your recovery!
