So I told her about it through a long letter on my computer. She told me she loves me no matter what!! But she said that we can't do anything like HRT till I'm 18. Do you ladies have any advice on how i should tell her i need it before 18, because I'm 15 and i just want to stop anything that has to do with male puberty and get better results with hrt.

Thanks

While it's impossible for me to know if the time is right for you to start HRT, I would start by explaining to your mother why you want to get started, and what the benefits of early HRT are. Since she is supportive of you, her opinion regarding HRT might change with more information. Good luck!

Very well done  :)

Here are some resources that might help you:

You might think about a good gender therapist... a supportive person to help you along...
if they are not supportive look for another...
if its connected with emotional issues or depression it might be covered...

I am not sure how much you know about this but sex hormones may not be permitted until you are 18. On the other hand, you therapist should allow you to receive blockers which will stop any additional sexual development until you are old enough to receive HRT. Explain to your mother that the longer you wait to receive blockers, the more expensive and painful undoing those additional 3 years will be. My transition happened a long time ago before much of the modern treatment was available and I spend a pile of money getting my beard removed and it wasn't all that heavy.
Something that wasn't available back then was voice surgery which I just had. The cost of that alone with air fare ran $7,000.

If you have any additional questions about the treatment you should be having now, post them here and we will attempt to answer them for you. Good luck with your mother.

I hope you're not being serious about the 18 thing. I've done so much research and the things i've read said you can be 16 to start hormones, any younger will just be t blockers. In some cases girls have gotten it younger than 16. I live in arizona so can someone help me find the infomation on age here, I've looked everywhere.

I've gotten to my breaking point and need to start HRT, I've told that to my mom, so we're going to a therapist soon.

If your research in your state says so it should be more current...

This is what someone else said :
"if a person is under 16 the majority of drs will not prescribe ... hormones"

yes, go to a good therapist, they should support you  :)

again, well done  :)

Went and check the standards and what I said still stand. I said they MAY not be permitted until you are 18. The reason for this is what your mother has said. Until you turn 18, you are a minor and as such are still under the control of your parents. If your parents are agreeable, sex hormones might be started sooner. On the other hand, sex hormones will not always stop additional male development. In my case, blockers weren't available so I only had sex hormones and they didn't really stop male hormone production. For now, you priority should be blockers. If you can get sex hormones, that's all the better but for now, you want to stop any more changes. The rest will come in two to three years.

Well OP you are on a good way.
You are going to see a therapist.
Talk to them, tell them you want to start hormones and why. They might help talk to your mum.

Often hormone therapy consists of an estrogen and an anti androgen component, which might help with stopping.
In older days only estrogens were available.
There still is a form of hormone therapy with injections or implants, where estrogen alone is used to drive e into the female range and t down into the male range.

Additionally it might be of advantage if a social transition is done before college.
You might talk this all through with your therapist.
And, as said, they should help explain to your mom.

If you feel you should go for hormones, talk that through with your therapist.

wish you luck  :)

I would recommend two things: having your mom contact some of the parents-of groups like TYFA & Gender Spectrum, and when you do go to a therapist make sure your mom knows how important it is to find one that is experienced helping trans minors transition.  They will be likely be able to help you with your mom, too, by explaining the process & the pitfalls of waiting.
