has anyone ever tried to get a new job as their target sex or while crossdressed. would like to know anyone's experience and procedures they took to get the job. i will start by saying that i went to one interview and put on the app that i was female, dressed as female, nobody questioned it even after doing a background check, i also went to a job interview dressed as female, don't remember if i put female on the app but she didn't question anything and said the only thing holding me back from getting the job was i didn't have my license....thanks for sharing

if i sound like i am repeating myself..i apologize.. i tried to post this earlier but now i can't find it. i was just curious as to if anyone has tried applying for a job as their opposite gender and what peopl'es reactions were. i went to one through an employment agency dresses female and put that i was female on the app. no one said a word or asked questions even after doing a background check. i also went to another interview dressed female and she didn't say anything about it. the only thing keeping me from getting that job was that they needed somebody who had their license....i would like to know anyone else's experiences thanks for sharing

If you've a gender ambiguous name, and you pass and the job is not one that has very stringent security check: aiports, etc,  you may get the job.

But once hired, HR will surely find out, especially if medical coverage
is included. For HR, if you pass and they've got liberal policies, I don't see why they would kick you out; you'll be equivalent to a TS in their eyes. For them, a pre-op TS and a full time CD is the same.

My low voice always makes people recognize my biological sex, and I have never tried.

my voice is also quite deep, but somehow people at work still recognize as female at work even. i don't correct them because if they are too stupid to hear how deep my voice is, most of the time then that's on them. i have had only one person so far apologize, not that i was really offended, but it did upset a little however that he was talking about it while standing there in front of me with his friend quite loudly....it was funny to a degree...come on is there really no one here on this site who has been brave enough to do this but me? i mean it isn't like you have to get dressed to the nines in your nicest dress or anything just dress nice like a nice pantsuit or something.......

Part of it may have to do with the job you are applying for.  If you are applying for an entry-level job where they may be lots of opportunity if this one doesn't work out, then it seems like somebody (besides you) will have tried it.  If you are appying for an executive level position and it may be your only shot at a job for several months, you don't take any chances.  As much pleasure as it gives me to present how I feel, it gives me much more pleasure to pay my bills and eat.

yeah i can understand that, paying bills and eating is important, i primarily started to do it because i was looking to see if i could do it and who would discriminate against me for doing it. i am just guessing that honest employers won't care how you dress and act as long as it is professional and you can do the job that they want you do. as far as i am concerned it should not matter how you dress and as to which sex you present. in my views, and others, that is still considered discrimination. but i did find another girl on here who did do all this and got hired as female and they are behind her 100%. that is a real employer and the kind of people we would all like to work for

I think your initial image is critical. Most hurdles TG or CD face are caused by sudden image change from man to woman. People require time to be adjusted to the new image.

As your initial image in your work place is a woman, it would be far easier and less stressful compared with those who shifted their image within very short time. In my case, I got some stress and even felt threat of loosing my job, because of my transition in image which took several months. Legal protection did not help me so much even in the U.S. Employer can fire employees on the pretext of other issues.

Regarding my voice, in the U.S., some people still called me as Ma'am even after hearing my manly voice. But in my country where the population is extremely homogeneous, it is very rare because my height is another factor that makes people guess I am a biological man. Some of my friends say that my accent sounds 'cute', but it is anyway deep and low. At my workplace, people call me 'lady' as a kind of joke, but I never wear skirt there.

Some states have passed laws making it illegal for employers to discriminate on the basis of gender identity. 

You might want to research your particular state and the laws they have in effect (assuming you live in US, of course).

How do you know it's discrimination if they don't hire you?  They can come up with any excuse, how would you really be sure?
Why do you say honest employers won't care etc?  I don't understand why you would say it that way, I'm sure many people who discriminate would call themselves honest, if anything, probably brutally honest!

that is a good question, how would you really know if it is discrimination. i guess some people could be good at reading body language. also i do not know about other states, but as nero has posted in another thread ohio is a very transphobic state even though columbus and cincy are both very popular with the lgbt community. i suppose if they don't want to give you a straight answer, you could kind of figure it out. as many of you know, most ohio hetero men i know have a problem with people with gid and anything that isn't normal to them and most of them don't have a problem voicing it. put it this way, i discreetly crossdress at work but not so much as to get noticed. the other day while i was at work i had one guy come in and i swear he had a problem with me, he refused to look at me the whole time he was talking to me and snatched the key tag out of my hand. we had a problem with his car and he didn't have a problem looking at the guy tech. my wife thinks he might be gay and like the manly type as i was too effeminate for him. which is just fine with me. but as to answer your question around here anyway, if you have like at least a somewhat perfect work history(good attendance, etc. etc.) and show up as the opposite sex, what else can they really find other than that bullcrap excuse "we don't think you would be a good fit for our company..." how do they know they didn't even bother giving me a chance. after all that's what the hell a 90 day probationary period is for right? they have that at-will employment contract in every app where it says that you or the employer can terminate your employment when you or they feel like it. i don't mean to sound defensive or anything but this is how i feel and what really is on the apps at least here in ohio.

I have a close friend that was a high-level CEO executive, (CD), whose company was acquired by anothe firm.  They fired all executives, and he spent the next two years looking for a new position---only to be told that he was "over qualified."
His wife finally suggested that he apply as his feminine self, at a department store, entry level job.
Certainly a cut in pay, but any income after two years is welcomed.
He told the store his true sex, and they said they really did not care, and that they would "seal" his HR file, and totally treat him as Shirley, his feminine name.
He was soon promoted to head a department, then management training, (smart company) and is now running several departments for the store.
He is still not earning anywhere as much as he was used to, but has benefits, commission over rides, and a salary.
He has been full time as a woman in the store, and no one know him other than Shirley.

Life at home is back to male mode, so lots of stress, but he did get the job and it excelling.

that is awesome julie, it gives us all hope, it sucked i couldn't get the one job because i didn't have my license. i am happy where i am now, and they don't really enforce dress code very much, but i dress like the girls when i am there. i don't where skirts, a couple girls do, but they don't work in a dirty shop like i do. i also found since i dress the way i do, the girls have talked to me a lot more than when i first started so i am happy. and if i ever do leave, every job interview i go to i do intend to present as who i truly am. that is pretty much what they want, if they can't accept that, then none of us need to work for them.

I have never tried to get another job after my transition, I transitioned at work when I went full time I asked to be moved to a new tower (big hospital) and know body knows any different

I work as my self I wear tank tops and feminine short sleeve tops and I always wear a bra that shows often I make no effort to hide. I live in Eustis, FL. my work colleagues don't treat me any different then anyone else,

Fortunately, I work many different shifts at a large complex, so a lot of the time I am alone, particularly during the evening shifts.
I have my own office and bathroom, with a closet where I keep several clothing items.
Usually I will arrive at work dressed in male attire, do my preliminary duties, then I'm mostly free to do as I wish.
I will then change in my office, slacks, blouse, comfy heels, easy make-up, and then let my hair down.
I will spend the remainder of my shift en femme, taking phone calls, visiting other work stations. There is minimal staff, I'm the supervisor, no one has a problem with asking Linsey any diections, decisions, etc...
Several of the GG's have commented that I have a good eye for fashion at work, and ask where do I shop at.
