Why were those who are called "transsexuals" were born in the wrong body in the first place?  When we are born, is it all random? Everytime I try to come up with a solution I get major headaches until my brain feels like it freezes..I am interested in your thoughts about this.  And please don't tell me its mental ilness or its all in the mind which created the so called "problem"...

Hi OtokoSuki,

I don't believe there is any particular reason.  The universe is both orderly and sloppy.  Life is even more sloppy because it has a set beginning, middle, end, and requirements such as eating, reproduction, and all that.  It just happens.
In the case of why did it happen to us specifically, I would say it was going to happen to someone anyway.  Who really will ever know why us?  Genetics? biology? crazy circumstances occurring in the womb where we developed? bad weather patterns? It almost doesn't matter why.  In the end, we have to face it and learn to make the most of it.

It's not easy.  It's definitely not a nice thing to have happen to us.  It's just what we ended up with, though.

Please don't let yourself be messed up trying to figure it out.

Thank you for your reply Rebis, and you're right it shouldnt matter why..because its unfortunately just the way it is.  In my part, I will do whatever it takes to get there for me to have the right body.  It is currently what I live for; to make my ultimate dream come true.

It just is OtokoSuki,

I am sick of asking the why and fighting myself. For now I just need to let it be.

Are you looking for a reason? For some guy in the sky to tell you why you should suffer?

There's no reason for your life except what you make for it. This is your life, only you can say why you're here. How you were born, what sex you were born, how many fingers and toes you have, that was all genetics. Things go wrong, things mutate. That's life, that's evolution. It's tough and sometimes lethal, but that's life. That's how things are, only you can make how things are have a reason for you.

In my opinion as one diagnosed with Gender Identity Dysphoria (a-k-a transsexuality) I believe that being born with a body that does not match my inner person is purely a chance occurrence, the "luck of the draw."

It is karma.

Funny thing is now that I look back I can't figure out if it's good karma or bad karma. It has been quite a trip and I don't think I would trade my life for that of anyone.

QuoteIt is karma.

Most think karma is a superstition. There is some probability in the fact that eventually how you treat other people and things in general will get around and form a general consensus view of you. In that light people tend to treat others as those treat us. In the long run it is beneficial to respect what is going on around you because you have to live with it.

Actually, most people believe in some form of karma. All the major religions as well as Buddhism (not a religion) teach some form of karma and most people in the world follow either a religion or a spiritual path.

We're not born in the wrong body, just the one we were born with along with our mind and all the rest of us. We're a part of the normality and normal distribution of human beings and human expression. We are. It's that simple. It's those really dumb psychologist who want and like labels to define something normal. The whole thing with it is about control by the medical system and the out of date morality of white men. The whole process of a transistion is the only one with so many hurdles to prevent or control it, in the name of something that isn't based on science (psychology) but personal (not professional) opinion and agendas.

And you wonder why some many transpeople are angry with the medical profession?

I don't know, I seem to remember most people in Iowa going to church on Sunday's.  It's just that in Cali you do religion in the same way you can shop in a mall - you get choices.

Well, according to recent studies, transsexualism is a neurological/congenital condition.  Here is a link from The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism:

http://jcem.endojournals.org/cgi/content/full/85/5/2034

I know that the studies only talk about MTF transsexuals but it is obvious that the same condition happens in female to males as well.

"its not going to be published, as i really dont want to out myself in that manner"

What, to the 12 people who actually read that journal?   I've published several articles - that I spent years on by the way - in academic journals.  Big deal.  Who has ever read them?  That why my next work is about drugs, sex and rock and roll (somethings I know way to much about) in the hopes that it will buy me a house near a ski area, or at least dinner at a nice restaurant, or even a can of Bud, which would be more than all the academic journals ever paid me.  (To be fair, some of the editors of those journals did take me out to dinner and drinking, and my bar bill is never cheap.)

P.S.   I tend to let grammar on the net go past me, but if your going to publish in an academic journal, its DON'T not DONT, and IT'S not ITS, and in reality, its do not, and it is, as contractions are not proper English.

Good habits are always observed.  Like manners.  I may open the beer bottle with my BIC lighter, but I do drink it as a lady.  And sorry, I read it as IT IS not going to be published, the latter would of course be ITS' showing the possessive adjective and possessive pronoun form of the personal.  But I understand that the final apostrophe has been relegated to the dustbin of history pretty much for that usage.  (Without my concurrence, needless to say.)

As always, your trusted friend,
tekla k. west (hey, if people can get rid of the apostrophe, I can dump that capitol letters stuff)

EVERYBODY GET GRAMMAR AND SPELLING FOR THEMSELVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Otoko:

I went through much the same process when I came to the realization I was a transsexual.  Why me?  How could this happen to me?!  In truth there is no answer.  It just is.  Much like any condition that comes upon us, in the end, it just is.  Imagine being diagnosed with an incurable illness, or a debilitating disease.  The feeling to me was much the same.

I went through the five step of grief in my process:

DENIAL - I was shocked that I had this condition.  It couldn't be true!

ANGER - I was angry at the world, angry at God for making me this way.  For giving me this affliction.

BARGAINING - I tried bargaining with God saying that I'll live a better life, I'll dedicate myself to charity, anything.  Just don't let this be true!

DEPRESSION - Yeah, well, I was pretty much depressed non-stop by that point.

ACCEPTANCE - Then I realized that it was like trying to hold back the tide, or push on the world.  I realized that I couldn't go back, because there wasn't anything to go back to.  I was always like this.  I finally embraced my transsexuality and myself.  And when I did, my old world died.

In the new world that was created at that moment, I loved myself for the very first time in my life.  My world became a thing of beauty.  And the butterfly came out of the cocoon.  I came out to myself.  For the first time in my life, everything finally made sense.

The rest, as they say, is history.
