I've been on T for about 6 months and I remember for a while noticing my hair thinning a little but then it stopped but I bleached my hair a couple weeks ago and since then I've noticed I'm losing A LOT of hair. Like every time I run my hand through my hair or anything like 3-4 strands will come out. I'm not sure if it's from the bleach since like the root part comes out too. I mean I'm only 18 and like my dad is like 55 and still has all his hair and my brother's almost 30 and he has long nice hair that's past his shoulders so like this shouldnt be happening? I literally feel sick just thinking about it, like my hair used to look really nice and the thought of losing my hair makes me want to throw up it's like horrible. I have nightmares about it just falling out. It mostly looks thinner on the sides and that doesnt seem like any pictures of male pattern baldness I've seen so I can't tell if it's from the bleach or testosterone or it could be from stress or diet idk but I'm really really worried.

here's a picture of the side where i think it's the thinnest, sorry the dye faded and it's a really nasty color

but yeah is there something i could do about this becasue it doesnt seem like male pattern baldness to me? Is it just like thinning out or something and i'm being really paranoid?

Hair genes are going to be through males on your mom's side of the family. Does her father still have his hair? If she has brothers, do they still have their hair? If the answer is no, ask at what age they started losing it.

My guess is it has more to do with the bleach than with T. Bleach is a harsh chemical.

my mom has 2 brothers both in their 50's and they have all their hair, my grandpa is balding but he's nearly 80 so I'd say I'm good for a while. I'm just gonna assume it was the bleach and try not to worry about it. Thank you for your response!

You remind me of myself once. It was pre transition. I was still trying really hard to fit into the female mold. I took a stimulant for ADHD that caused a side effect of hair loss above the ears for me. It was so unexpected because I wasn't on T or anything and was 21. And when trying to be a girl, balding really sucks. Anyways, I freaked out so much. Like I have literally never been as anxious as then. I lost all hair in about a 2 inch squared region and it kept growing and then it made me so anxious that the doc said the anxiety may have caused it. I was able to cover it up with my hair and it all grew back. It was a weird fluke and I over reacted and nearly made myself sick and though omg I'm gonna go totally bald what is wrong with me. I think it is probably the bleach and you are just worrying yourself. It looks fine to me. Try to forget about it and maybe don't bleach it again.
