For the first time, I went outside as myself- and I didn't die! It was a really small step, my friend taking me out in his car to a drive-through to get dinner, but it was huge for me! I just had to share that, thanks for reading. :)
How does a Caterpillar become a Butterfly? It has to want to fly so badly it's willing to give up being a Caterpillar.

Ha!  That's more or less exactly what I did the first time.  I didn't die either- quite the opposite, actually.  The second time I actually got out of the car in the "gayborhood". 

Still not dead.

That first step out is frightening. But it gets eaiser each time. The next thing you know you are living as your authentic self full time.  Like Jill, I'm not dead yet either.

Good on you! I bet you had some serious butterflies, huh? ;) My first time out was with a few girl-friends, so I felt protected. It always helps to have a friend. Congratulations! :)

I remember the first night I went out.  It was late in tucson AZ at 10 and I was accompanied by a fellow transgirl.  That was may of this year before i started hormones.  Now I'm out more than ever infront of my own house

Wonderful!  Very happy for you!  It really is a *huge* step, and yet, at some point in the future you will look back and wonder what all of the fuss was about.  Very curious that way.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
