Title. How long will it take using electrolysis?  I am extremely hairy.

I'm mad at myself for being born horribly hairy. I have a horrible beard, and worse body hair. I am Crying Right Now so I cant Discuss It in Greater detail. I'm sorry.

I did laser and it took about 18 months

Body hair was dealt with by the anti androgen.

My body hair will be dealt with by medicine so it's only beard hair I have to worry about?

It really depends on how hairy you are, how coarse and thick the hair is. It might be that you'll be able to deal with it using laser rather than electro. Especially the body hair. As Cindy says, you might find that HRT will deal with a lot of the body hair, that was my experience although I helped it along with a few waxing sessions that did thin it out (my hair was too light in colour for laser). Laser will get the job done in less time and will be cheaper, so if it's at all possible you should check that out first. There are two types of electro, galvanic and thermolysis. I've had galvanic, it is multi probe and permanent. Depending on the skill of the electrologist the thermolysis might be done well and quickly, but often some people find themselves doing two hundered hours or more of treatment. My galvanic is almost finished after one hundred hours (which took me two years).

Either way it is likely to take you a year or so. It is painful and expensive and takes a lot of time... but it does get done eventually.

It also depends on the dosage of anti-androgen, genetics + YMMV.
Depending on many things, you either want to take a higher or lower dose. I'm on a lower dose, and after 11 months most of my body hair is very thin. I only have to shave in a few spots on my body, and it is not too often.

For laser you would probably need around 8 sessions with 4-6 weeks in between them. The hair will grow finer each time though, so it won't bother you as much after a few sessions.

I'm having full body laser done, face to toes and everything in between.

After just one session of laser (~4 weeks ago) and 2 months on hormones, alllll my body hair is growing sooooo slowly now, and it's almost all blonde.  All of it, face, armpits, legs, arms, chest, etc...  Granted I've got patchy brown hair coming back in now because of how hair grows in cycles, but I'm really amazed at the results all over in those first 3 weeks after laser.  It will only impove.

So, rule of thumb, if you have the correct skin/hair coloration for it, get a bunch of laser done.  Then go for electrolysis to pick off the stragglers and blond hairs that bother you most.

I have nearly no body hair, but had hair in armpits, beard and legs. It took 3 years to remove all hairs substantially by Tria Home laser, which I used 2 or 3 times per month with each session of ca. 30 min.

I started my face on laser.  I would recommend getting the laser done with a dermatologist.  He was much more aware of how to tune the laser and how to push it over the dime a dozen laser clinics.  Unfortunately, I had a lot of light facial hair so I've been cleaning that up with electrolysis.

Other than that most of my hair has gone away on the chest and back except for a hair here and there.  Underarms don't change but if you get laser done you can get these done at the same time.  It takes some time for the hormones to work so I wouldn't splurge on full body hair removal just yet. Give your body some time and see how it adjusts and you can focus on the face which you know will not change.
