Micah (Alecia)

Hello everyone my name is Micah and I'm new here, I joined this site to try to get some insight on some things I have been going through. What I have been going through has been going on since I was a teen but only recently, has it started to progressively increase. I have noticed that the dysphoria has begun to get worse as well, and I'm not really sure what to do. It has taken all the strength I have just to get the courage to write this thread, I am a male by birth however I have always shown strong feminine characteristics. Essentially I am not sure what I am as far as gender, there are days where I am happy with my male body but then there are other times were I was I had been born as a female. I don't think I am transgender but I could be because I have thought about gender reassignment. However I am also happy with being both genders, almost all the time I think of myself as both male and female I am just very unsure of things right now and this is all rather confusing i guess I just need some advice.

Hello and welcome  :)

Here are a few resources that might help you:
https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,193402.msg1724354.html#msg1724354

well first know you are not the only one...

It might take some time to get a clearer view...
you might ask some questions here...
and a good gender therapist might help sort this out...

and if you feel like it there are helplines..
they also have a chat...

And congratulations on your steps so far  :)

Thank you so much for the reply Laura, this a difficult time for me. I am just trying to figure things out right now and am just really unsure of what to do. up until now I have not told another soul about how I feel because I had to figure it out in my own head, but it has just got to a point where I had to tell someone, right now I'm trying to work up the courage to tell my girlfriend and I'm terrified at what will happen. She is bi-sexual through so maybe it won't be all that bad and she will understand

Well you might look through the resources in the link above...

Many people now say being transgender has biological connections, to do with brain development before birth.
So its nobodys fault, neither the transgender persons nor their parents upbringing or whatever.
http://www.gires.org.uk/assets/DOH-Assets/pdf/doh-transgender-experiences.pdf
(only thing I'd disagree with is they state stress on page 7... many feel relief....)

You really are one of many... and the answers are individual...
its a spectrum out there...

it might be a good idea to talk to someone...
some people come out in a letter, or via text... and show some resources later.

A big warm welcome! The best advice I can give you is one I give everyone in your shoes. Find a good therapist with gender experience. They are invaluable and if transition is decided will provide letters for HRT and GCS. It never hurts to get outside, unbiased help with such a big issue. :)

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone, like I stated previously this is a hard time for me. while I know I should see a therapist a some point I don't think I am quite ready for that yet. While I have come to terms with this and I believe I am bi-gender I want to get to a point where I am comfortable enough to do that. But even putting it out there on a forum is a big step for me. Laura thank you for the information you have given me it is helpful to know I am not alone.

It might take some looking into different info... and some geting used to it, and maybe experiementing a bit with easy reversible steps like hair style or clothing styles... second hand stores can be a good sources... it can be fun to explore...

I'd say take the time you need but keep at it... look for counseling...
and talking and writing helps getting a clearer view...

Thanks for all the warm welcomes everyone it is good to know that I am not alone. I would love to see a therapist and it sounds like a great idea problem is I live in a small town and we don't have a therapist that would be specialized in gender :(

You might look for online therapists:

There are more, and some might accept your insurance and communicate online:
